Overview of accessibility

Description of the building

Departmental building A, which has 13 above-ground floors and one underground floor, is part of the extensive campus in Troja. The complex has of a total of five buildings, which, in addition to the departments of the physics section, house two branches of the faculty library and the Language Education Office.

Accessibility and transportation

Public transportation

The bus stop Kuchyňka (bus 201) is located approximately 250 m from the building. The bus runs to the Nádraží Holešovice stop, where it is possible to take the metro (line C). For more information, see www.dpp.cz.

Parking

A large parking area without reserved parking spaces is available at the rear entrance to building T.

Entrance

The surface of the access road from V Holešovičkách Street, where the public transportation stop is located, is made of asphalt with a long longitudinal slope (6%-12.5%).

At the entrance to the building from the east side is a staircase (7 steps up). Barrier-free access to the building is possible by a connecting passage with an incline (gradient 5.8%) from building T where a single ramp is available at the rear entrance (gradient 12.5%-15%, width 114 cm, length 556 cm) without handrails. The space in the connecting passage has a minimum width of 80 cm.

Interior

All floors of the building are connected by a pair of lifts (the 13th above-ground floor and the 1st underground floor are technical in nature).

The manoeuvring space in the interior is sufficient. The doors from the lifts to the main corridors are double-panel (main panel width 70 cm, side panel width 75 cm) with a telephone system (max. height 110 cm) on each floor. The doors of classrooms, offices, and other passages have a minimum width of 70 cm.

Departmental building A is also connected to building T by a connecting passage at the level of the 2nd above-ground floor.

Lift

A pair of lifts (automatically opening door width 89 cm, cabin width 150 cm, depth 150 cm) is located next to the central staircase. The manoeuvring space in front of the lifts is sufficient. The cabins with pull-down seats are equipped with a handle (height 92 cm) and a mirror on the front wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 136 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 122 cm.

Sanitary facilities

The building has four modified toilets with the same parameters located on the 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 9th above-ground floors next to the lifts. The accessible stalls (door width 80 cm, stall width 253 cm, depth 165 cm) with a hallway (door width 80 cm, hallway width 281 cm, depth 123 cm) are part of the women’s toilet facility. The single-panel toilet door is marked and opens mechanically to the side. Access to the toilet (anchored on the right side wall) when looking from the entrance into the stall is on the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 97 cm). The toilets are equipped with two pull-down handles.
