Overview of accessibility

Description of the building

The computer science departments of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics are located in this historic building.

Accessibility and transportation

Public transportation

The tram stop Malostranské náměstí (trams 7, 12, 15, 20, 22, and 23) is located immediately next to the building. For more information, see www.dpp.cz.

Parking

A reserved parking space is located on Malostranské náměstí.

Entrance

The surface of the access pavement is made of flat mosaic tiles with a combined slope (longitudinal slope max. 5%, transverse slope max. 4%). The double-panel entrance door (main panel width 95 cm, side panel width 97 cm) with a stone threshold (height 2-3 cm) opens mechanically inwards. The doorbell (height 149 cm) is located on the right side of the door. The reception area is in the spacious vestibule (desk height 102 cm). An additional double door leads to the building (main panel width 89 cm, side panel width 90 cm) with a chip reader, which is followed by a single ramp (gradient 11.5%, width 180 cm, length 94 cm) without a handle.

Interior

The building has five above-ground floors, one underground floor, and a lowered ground floor (4 steps down) referred to as the rotunda. All floors are connected by a pair of lifts, which is located in the main corridor after the entrance to the building. The rotunda, in which there is a computer laboratory, is connected to the 1st above-ground floor (entrance level) by a lift with doors on both sides located further down in the main corridor.

In the basement, also accessible by a lift, there is a restaurant and a conference and social centre. The sanitary facilities in the basement include a modified toilet stall.

The tiered lecture rooms S5 and S9 on the 2nd and 3rd above-ground floors have reserved spaces in the first lower row at the entrance to the room.

The interconnected lecture rooms with a tiered layout on the 4th above-ground floor are accessible via a straight single ramp (gradient 7%, width 150 cm, length 425 cm) with a one-sided handrail (height 81 cm), followed by a self-service vertical platform (load capacity 250 kg, traffic area width 82 cm, depth 100 cm, buttons max. height 107 cm).

The manoeuvring space throughout the interior of the building is sufficient. The entrances to classrooms and office usually have double doors (main panel min. width 75 cm), which are often fitted with a threshold (height 2-3 cm).

Lift

The pair of lifts (automatically opening door width 90 cm, cabin width 110 cm, depth 208 cm) have the same parameters and are located next to the central staircase. The manoeuvring space in front of the lifts is sufficient. The cabins with pull-down seats are equipped with a handle (height 92 cm) and a mirror on the front wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 98 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 105 cm.

The third lift with doors on both sides (automatically opening door width 80 cm, cabin width 100 cm – narrowed due to a handle 92 cm, depth 120 cm) connects the 1st above-ground floor and the lowered ground floor (rotunda). The manoeuvring space in front of the lift is sufficient. The cabin without a pull-down seat is equipped with a handle (height 92 cm) and a mirror on the side wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 93 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 103 cm.

Sanitary facilities

There are a total of six modified toilets in the building, five of which are always located on each floor in the corridor, which branches off from the main traffic area near the lifts. The accessible toilets (door width 80 cm, stall width 191-198 cm, depth 250-288 cm) are separate and have a rotated layout of 90° (the toilet is anchored on the right side wall). The single-panel toilet door is marked and opens mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet when looking from the entrance into the stall is always on the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width min. 95 cm). The toilets are equipped with one pull-down and one fixed handle.

The sixth modified toilet is located on the 1st underground floor next to the restaurant. The partially accessible toilet (door width 90, stall width 170 cm, depth 148 cm) is also separate. The single-panel toilet door is marked and opens mechanically outwards. The cabin has a rotated layout of 90° (the toilet is anchored on the right side wall). Access to the toilet when looking from the entrance into the stall is on the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is limited (width 70 cm). The toilet is equipped with one pull-down and one fixed handle that is difficult to handle.
