My experience with study assistance

I study together with deaf and hearing impaired students who receive transcripts of classes from me so that they can easily follow the interpreter/simultaneous transcription. I originally decided to do this because one friend said that it was a smart way to make extra money during studies. However, I later realized that this type of assistance has completely different benefits, and the financial part in the form of a scholarship is only a pleasant bonus.

What benefits am I talking about? I write the transcripts during the classes – I simply take notes on what the instructor says. But the benefits can be seen mainly during the exam period – I do not have to learn the material at all. How is that? I work on the transcripts at home several times. I adjust them so that they have a pleasant design and written form for my colleagues. I spend several hours with the text, during which time I absorb all of the information. I then send the document to the instructor who corrects it and sends it back to me – and I read and absorb the text once again. In the end, which I do extra – for myself and my colleagues, I always make a large summary once a month with all of the copied transcripts from the course for the specific month – at that point, all of the information is so stuck in my head that I could produce the answers even if they woke me up at midnight. During the exam period, I just read all the information again, which reminds me of everything that was wandering somewhere in my head. And what touches me the most? Besides my own success, the success of my colleagues for whom I make the transcripts, with whom I study and occasionally provide additional explanations. And most of all, that they find my transcripts very useful!
