CENTRUM CAROLINA, which provides university-wide support for students with special needs, is part of CU POINT. Its staff are on hand to answer questions from both applicants and students.
The newly renovated building houses the foreign languages departments and a study room for foreign language students. It also houses CU Point (CU Center for Information, Counselling and Social Services) and a student card service center.
The surface of the Celetná street, where the entrance to the faculty building is located, consists of mosaic paving that is slightly rough in some places, but without significant gradients.
The heavy single-leaf entrance door (width: 97 cm), set into a sturdy wooden gate, opens mechanically outwards. There is no bell at the entrance.
A set of double doors (width: 2x 80 cm) leads from the doorway to the main stair hall equipped with an elevator.
Ground floor
The lower level of the ground floor houses CU point and a student card service center. Entrance to the spacious hall is made up of a set of double doors. Behind them is a short staircase consisting of 4 steps with a straight run ramp on the left side (slope: 13.5%, width: 128 cm, length: 455 cm), which is equipped with a handrail on one side (at the height of 93 cm). There is sufficient maneuvering space both above and below the ramp.
The service counter (height: 108 cm) in the center of the hall does not have a lowered surface part.
Behind the hall are the offices of CU Center for Information, Counselling and Social Services, where students can go for consultations. The offices are equipped with regular desks, the doors are at least 80 cm wide. To get to a hallway with an accessible restroom stall, you need to pass through the administrative area and the student card issuance area. The hallway is adjacent to the hall of CU Point and located to its right and is only wheelchair accessible from the one direction. From the direction of the central staircase and the elevator, the hallway can only be accessed after going down 4 steps.
The ground, second and third floors can be accessed by a passenger elevator located in the main stair hall.
Second floor
Parts of the central hallway on the second floor slope (slope: 5-9%, maximum length: 3 m). Workrooms and classrooms have either single-leaf (width: 80 cm) or double-leaf (width: 2x 65 cm) doors.
Third floor
Part of the central hallway on the third floor between the south and the east wing is raised, with three stairs up, raised floor, and three steps down. On one side, there is a straight run ramp (slope: 14 %, width: 134 cm, length: 340 cm) with handrails on both sides making it possible to overcome the elevation difference (3 steps up). There is sufficient maneuvering space both above and below the ramp. On the other side (3 steps down), there is an inclined platform lift (load capacity: 250 kg; transport area width: 80 cm, depth: 90 cm). There is sufficient maneuvering space both on the top and bottom landing. The phone number to reach the reception and call for a lift operator is specified at the lift’s control panel.
The large classroom C1 on the third floor is directly next to the elevator. Other offices and classrooms have either single or double doors (2x 60 cm wide). The doors have raised up thresholds (height: 3-4 cm).
Fourth floor
The fourth floor, where the library, study room and an accessible toilet stall are located, is no longer accessible by the elevator. The floor can now be accessed using an inclined platform lift (load capacity: 250 kg; transport area width: 80 cm, depth: 90 cm), which is located on the staircase in the east wing.
The elevator (automatic door width: 90 cm; cabin width: 119 cm, depth: 140 cm) can be used for travel between the ground, second and third floor. There is sufficient maneuvering space in front of the elevator. The cabin with folding seat is also equipped with a handrail (at the height of 93 cm) on the side wall and a mirror on the front wall. The maximum height of the controls outside of the elevator doors is 102 cm, the maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 108 cm.
There are a total of 3 accessible restrooms in the building.
The accessible restroom (door width: 90 cm; restroom width: 186 cm, depth: 184 cm) on the ground floor is an individual unit. The single door to the restroom is labeled and opens mechanically outwards. The stall has an accessible layout (the toilet is anchored to the right-hand side wall). When facing the entrance to the restroom, the toilet is located to the right. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair next to the toilet (width: 105 cm). The toilet is equipped with one folding and one fixed handle.
The accessible restroom (door width: 90 cm; stall width: 185 cm, depth: 160 cm) on the second floor of the east wing is an individual unit as well. The single door to the restroom is labeled and opens mechanically outwards. The stall also has an accessible layout (the toilet is anchored to the right-hand side wall). When facing the entrance to the restroom, the toilet is located to the right. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair next to the toilet (width: 85 cm). The toilet is equipped with one folding and one fixed handle.
The partially accessible restroom (door width: 90; stall width: 177 cm, depth: 225 cm) on the fourth floor is an individual unit as well. The single door to the restroom is labeled and opens mechanically outwards. When facing the entrance to the restroom, the toilet is located to the right. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair next to the toilet (width: 102 cm). The toilet is equipped with one folding and one fixed handle. However, the folding handle cannot be stored vertically due to the rear sloping wall!
The closest accessible parking are four parking spots in the Old Town Square.
