Overview of accessibility

Description of the facility

The five-story building of CU Rectorate, located in Building C, shares a common entrance with the adjacent Carolinum. The building houses the Rector’s Office, the Bursar’s Office, the departments of the Rectorate and the Internal Audit Department.

Entrance

The surface of the access pavement from the Celetná and Rytířská streets consists of flat mosaic paving. Behind the double-leaf campus gate (width: 2x200 cm) there is a courtyard with flat large-format paving.

The double doors of the main entrance open mechanically outwards. They open mechanically towards a spacious doorway leading into the entrance hall with a reception desk.

A secondary accessible entrance is available to the left side of the courtyard. There is a straight run ramp (slope: 13.5%, width: 400 cm, length: 136 cm) in front of the double doors, which open mechanically inwards. There is a reception bell in the left corner by the doors (at the height of 91 cm).

The entrance leads to the passage of the Karolinum building, the right side of which offers access to the cloakroom and the entrance hall of the Rectorate.

Building interior

The entrance hall is connected to the central stair hall of the Rectorate building, which includes a pass-through elevator.

There is a snack bar on the ground floor. Opposite it, next to the elevator, are double doors leading to a hallway. An accessible restroom is located approximately halfway down the hallway. The hallway then leads to the mailroom and to the courtyard, separated by 2 steps from the hallway level.

The elevator connects all floors of the building, but the southern part of the building is accessible only by stairs once getting off the elevator.

On the second floor, rooms 101-103 (the Rector's Office) are level with the elevator, with double doors leading to them. The southern part with rooms 104-113 is separated from the rest of the floor by a staircase consisting of 8 steps.

Similarly, on the third floor, rooms 201-206 are level with the elevator, and the southern part with rooms 207-216 is separated from the rest of the floor by a staircase consisting of 6 steps.

On the fourth floor, rooms 301 - 306 are level with the elevator, and the southern part with rooms 307 - 316 is separated from the rest of the floor by a staircase consisting of 4 steps.

On the fifth floor, both the northern and southern part of the building are separated from the elevator level by 1 step.

Elevator

The pass-through elevator (automatic door width: 80 cm; cabin width: 135 cm, depth: 120 cm) connects all the floors, from the ground floor to the fifth floor. There is sufficient maneuvering space in front of the elevator. The cabin doesn’t have a mirror or a folding seat but is equipped with a handrail on the side wall.

Sanitation facilities

The accessible restroom is located on the ground floor. The restroom is an individual unit. The single door to the restroom is labeled and opens mechanically outwards. The toilet is located to the right of the entrance to the unit. There is sufficient wheelchair space next to the toilet (width: 100 cm). The toilet is equipped with one folding and one short, fixed support handle.

Parking

The nearest accessible parking space is located on the corner of the Rytířská and Havířská streets.

Public transport

The Můstek metro stop (line A and B) does not yet have an elevator (currently under construction for both lines) and therefore cannot be used. Wheelchair access is available when traveling by tram (5, 8, 24, 26) or bus to Náměstí Republiky (the Náměstí Republiky metro station does not have an elevator either).
