Overview of accessibility

Description of the building

The complex consists of three interconnected buildings, a nine-storey south building with the Dean's Office, a five-storey north building, and a lecture room in building C.

Entrance

The surface of the access pavement in Akademika Heyrovského Street is made of even concrete paving. The complex has a common main entrance at the level of the 1st above-ground floor of the south building, to which a three-section ramp leads (1st section: gradient 10%, width 140 cm, length 475 cm; 2nd section: gradient 8.5%, width 140 cm, length 264 cm; 3rd section: gradient 6%, width 136 cm, length 300 cm) with a double-sided handrail (height 88 cm). The manoeuvring space above and below the ramp is sufficient. The double entrance door automatically opens to the sides. The width of the passage is sufficient. In the spacious entrance hall, there is a reception area with a cloakroom (desk height 93 cm).

Interior

SOUTH BUILDING

All floors of the south building are connected by a pair of identical lifts with insufficient depth, from which they lead to the classrooms and offices of the central corridor. The manoeuvring space in the interior is sufficient. The doors of classrooms, offices, and other passages have a minimum width of 80 cm.

BUILDING C

A staircase (8 steps up) leads from the entrance hall on the 1st above-ground floor to the adjacent building C with a lecture room. However, upon agreement, the separate access to the building from Akademika Heyrovského Street may be used. There is a single ramp in front of the side entrance (gradient 11%, width 145 cm, length 500 cm). The manoeuvring space above and below the ramp is sufficient. The double door (width 2x 64 cm) with a low step (height 4 cm) opens mechanically inwards into the lower part of the lecture room with sufficient manoeuvring space.

NORTH BUILDING

Main access to the north building is provided by a connecting passage to the south building at the level of the 2nd above-ground floor. It is accessible from the main entrance hall in the south building by a pair of lifts.

The locked side entrance is located from the back of the north building at the level of the 1st above-ground floor. An asphalt road with slight surface irregularities leads to it from Akademika Heyrovského Street. In front of the single-panel door (width 90 cm), there is a concrete ramp (gradient 6%, width 140 cm, length 240 cm) without a handle or anti-skid stops. The entrance is equipped with a chip reader and a doorbell (height 120-145 cm) located on the left side of the door above the ramp.

The five-storey north building is divided by a main staircase corridor into two sections, long and shorter.

The separate floors of the building are connected by a total of three lifts. Two of them are located in the main staircase, and on the 2nd above-ground floor, there is a connecting passage to the south building. The third lift is located at the east end of the long wing, but has a limited cabin width (see Lifts).

The shorter tracts are connected to the staircase corridor with lifts by a staircase (6 steps up). On the 2nd and 4th above-ground floors, there are lecture rooms A and B in the shorter tracts, in which there is another narrow staircase (11 steps up) to the upper row behind the entrance door. Barrier-free access to the lecture rooms is not available. On the 5th above-ground floor, there is a vivarium above the staircase.

A double door (width 2x 70 cm) leads to the long (east) wing from the staircase corridor with a pair of lifts on all floors. The entrances to the classrooms and offices lead on both sides from the wide central corridor. All passages have a minimum width of 80 cm. The manoeuvring space in the interior is sufficient.

Only the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology (room no. 2036) on the 1st above-ground floor is not accessible from the central corridor. It is accessible from the 2nd above-ground floor by the third lift of the north building.

Lift

There are a total of five lifts in the complex, two in the south building and three in the north building.

SOUTH BUILDING

The pair of lifts in the south building has the same parameters. The lifts (automatically opening door width 80 cm, cabin width 141 cm, depth 90 cm) have insufficient depth. They connect the 1st to 9th above-ground floors. The manoeuvring space in front of the lifts is limited by a recess (depth 52 cm). The cabins are equipped with a mirror and a handle (height 112 cm) on the front wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 101 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 120 cm.

NORTH BUILDING

The larger of the two lifts in the north building (automatically opening door width 80 cm, cabin width 106 cm, depth 205 cm) connects the 1st to 5th above-ground floors and is connected to the side entrance. The manoeuvring space in front of the lift is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a mirror and a handle (height 111 cm) on the front wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 109 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 119 cm.

The smaller lift (automatically opening door width 80 cm, cabin width 130 cm, depth 105 cm) also connects the 1st to 5th above-ground floors. The manoeuvring space in front of the lift is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a mirror and a handle (height 111 cm) on the front wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 104 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 121 cm.

The third lift in the north building (outwards mechanically opening door width 78 cm, cabin width 80 cm, depth 115 cm) is located at the eastern end of the long wing and also connects the 1st to 5th above-ground floors. The manoeuvring space in front of the lift is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a mirror and a handle (height 108 cm) on the front wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 120 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 121 cm.

Sanitary facilities

A modified toilet is located on the 1st above-ground floor of the south building near the lifts. The accessible toilet (door width 90, stall width 264 cm, depth 187 cm) is separate. The single-panel toilet door is marked and opens mechanically outwards. The stall has a rotated layout of 90° (the toilet is anchored on the right side wall). Access to the toilet when looking from the entrance into the stall is on the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 80 cm). The toilet is equipped with two pull-down handles.

Parking

There is a spacious parking area in the vicinity of the building with no reserved parking spaces.

Public transportation

The nearest public transportation stop is the “Heyrovského” trolleybus and bus stop. All directions for the stop are located at the adjacent traffic light about 200-400 metres from the main entrance on an even surface. Access without major problems is best along Akademika Heyrovského Street. The pavement surface is somewhat demanding. For more information, see www.dpmhk.cz.
