Overview of accessibility

Description of the building

The Centre for Ibero-American Studies of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University is located in the Sweerts-Sporck Palace. The reconstructed building houses three other units of the Faculty of Arts: the Institute of Translation Studies, the Centre for Comparative Studies, and the Department of Romance Studies.

The Sporck Palace Library is also located here.

Public transportation

The nearest public transportation stop is the partially barrier-free tram and bus stop Masarykovo nádraží. The stop is located about 200 metres from the building on level ground and is served by tram lines 3, 5, 6, 14, 15, 24, 26, 91, 92, 94, and 96 and buses 905, 907, and 911.

Parking

Reserved parking is located on the opposite side of Hybernská Street near the intersection with Senovážná Street. It is not barrier-free (curb height 8 cm).

Entrance

The surface of the access pavement consists of flat mosaic tiles, which at the entrance area turns into a coarser stone paving with a transverse slope (max. 10%).

The double entrance door (main panel width 87 cm, secondary panel width 85 cm) opens mechanically towards the inside. The doorbell (height 165 cm) is located on the left side of the door. In the entrance hall, there is a reception area (counter height 93 cm) and a lift to the other floors of the building.

Interior

A lift connects the separate floors of the building. The library depository is located on the non-barrier-free lower ground floor (2 steps down).

On the 1st above-ground floor (entrance level), there is the Institute of Comparative Studies (door width 90 cm), the library (door width 90 cm) and a refreshment area with a vending machine.

The Institute of Translation Studies and the Centre for Ibero-American Studies are located on the 2nd and 3rd above-ground floors. The doors to lecture halls 101 and 201 are single-panel (width 90 cm). The entrances to other classrooms and offices are double-panel (door width 66/50 cm).

On the 4th above-ground floor, there is the Institute of South Slavic and Balkan Studies (door width 90 cm) and a computer room.

Lift

The lift (automatic door width 90 cm; cage width 110 cm, depth 140 cm) connects the 1st to 4th above-ground floors. The manoeuvring area in front of the lift is sufficient. The cage is equipped with a handrail (height 88 cm) and a mirror on the front wall. The controls can be reached from the pull-down seat. The controls at the entrance points are a maximum height of 110 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cage is 118 cm.

Sanitary facilities

A partially accessible, separate toilet (door width 81 cm; stall width 150 cm, depth 162 cm) is located on the 1st above-ground floor in the main corridor. The toilet is locked, and the key is available at the reception desk. The single-door toilet is labelled and opens mechanically towards the outside. Access to the toilet when looking from the entrance into the stall is on the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is partially narrowed (width 75 cm). The toilet is equipped with one pull-down handle and one fixed handle.
