Overview of accessibility


Description of the facility

In the historical building houses the Institute of Economic Studies. 


 

Entrance

The access pavement is made of flat mosaic pavement. The main entrance to the building is not accessible, with 3 steps leading to the double entrance doors that open mechanically inwards. A bell (at the height of 135 cm) is located to the right of the door above the stairs. A staircase consisting of 11 stairs leads from the entrance to the upper ground floor.


A locked secondary entrance allowing wheelchair access is available to the left of the main entrance. A low single-leaf door (width: 104 cm, height: 163 cm) without a bell leads to the area where the vertical platform (load capacity: 225 kg; transport area width: 82 cm wide, depth: 123 cm) is located. There is sufficient maneuvering space both on the bottom and upper landing. The platform connects the street level and the lower ground floor where there is an elevator.


 



Building interior

The ground floor (upper ground level) of the university building houses a reception (counter height: 90 cm), a cloakroom, the entrance to the lower part of the tiered lecture hall (door width: 2x 80 cm) and seminary room 105 (door width: 2x 60 cm).

The upper part of the lecture hall (door width 2x 80 cm) can be accessed from the second floor.


The lower ground floor with a computer laboratory, internet and break room, the upper ground floor, and all other floors in the building except for the sixth floor are accessible via a passenger elevator. There is sufficient maneuvering space throughout the building. The entrances to the offices on the fourth and fifth floor consist of narrow double doors (2x 60 cm wide). The security frame in the library on the third floor is also slightly narrowed (width: 75 cm). All other doors and passages in the building are at least 80 cm wide.

The entrance to the tiered lecture room 314 (door width: 2x 80 cm) is located on the third floor. There is accessible seating in the first lower row at the entrance to the lecture room; the desk is raised by three steps. The aisle without a landing on the left side of the lecture room is at a 13% slope.

Access to the sixth floor, where the language classrooms are located, is only possible via a spiral staircase. 


 



Elevator

The elevator (automatic door width: 80 cm; cabin width: 110 cm, depth: 140 cm) connects all the floors between the lower ground and the fifth floor of the building. There is sufficient maneuvering space in front of the elevator. The cabin without a folding seat is equipped with a handrail (at the height of 91 cm) and a mirror on the front wall. The maximum height of the controls in front of the elevator is 111 cm, the maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 110 cm. 




Sanitation facilities

There are a total of three accessible toilets in the building.


There is a partially accessible restroom (door width: 80 cm – narrowed passage: 72 cm; restroom width: 251 cm, depth: 157 cm) on the lower ground floor that is an individual unit. The single-leaf restroom door is labeled and opens mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet when facing the entrance to the restroom is from the left. There is sufficient wheelchair space next to the toilet (width: 132 cm). The toilet is equipped with two folding handles.


There is a partially accessible stall (door width: 80 cm - narrowed passage: 74 cm; restroom width: 168 cm, depth: 182 cm) on the second floor that is part of the sanitation facilities (door width: 80 cm - narrowed passage: 74 cm; hallway width: 165 cm, depth: 144 cm). The single-leaf door of the co-ed cubicle is labeled and opens mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet when facing the entrance to the stall is from the left There is sufficient wheelchair space next to the toilet (width 86 cm). The toilet is equipped with two folding handles. The sink is located in the common restroom area.


Another partially accessible stall (door width: 81 cm - narrowed passage: 75 cm; cubicle width: 164 cm, depth: 201 cm) on the third floor is part of the men’s sanitation facilities (door width: 80 cm; first hallway width: 115 cm, depth: 243 cm; second hallway width: 198 cm, depth: 142 cm. The single-leaf stall door is labeled and opens mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet when facing the entrance to the stall is from the left. There is sufficient wheelchair space next to the toilet (width 80 cm). The toilet is equipped with two folding handles. 




Accessibility and getting there


Public transport


The Muzeum metro station (lines A and C) is located close to the building (approx. 250 m away) and has wheelchair access. Tram transport is also available, the nearest stops being Muzeum and Václavské náměstí. Both are approximately 550 meters away. For more information see www.dpp.cz


Parking


Accessible parking near pavements without curb cuts is available approximately 50 m from the building in the direction of the Opletalova Street and Washingtonova Street intersection.
