The faculty building houses the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, the Center for Scientific Information, the Center for Media Studies and the Language Center. The building has four floors.
The main entrance to the building from Smetanovo nábřeží is not accessible. A staircase consisting of 6 steps leads from the double-leaf entrance door (main wing width: 82 cm, secondary wing width: 90 cm) with a difficult-to-access bell (at the height of 156 cm) to the upper ground floor.
A secondary accessible entrance is available from Divadelní Street. The surface of the narrow access pavement is asphalt and uneven in some places. The single-leaf door in the gate opens mechanically inwards and has a threshold bar (height: 2-3 cm). The bell (height: 135 cm) is located to the right of the door in the corner above the stone plinth, meaning it is difficult to access.
The entrance connects into a passage leading to the inner courtyard and further into the building.
A double door (main wing width: 83 cm, secondary wing width: 47 cm) with a threshold (height: 3 cm) leads to a stair hallway with an elevator on the basement level (1.PP).

A secondary accessible entrance is available from Divadelní Street. The surface of the narrow access pavement is asphalt and uneven in some places. The single-leaf door (width: 88 cm) in the gate opens mechanically inwards and has a threshold bar (height: 2-3 cm).
All floors of the building are connected by a passenger elevator. Classrooms and offices can be accessed from the central hallways, which are level and accessible by elevator. There is a reception (counter height: 97 cm) on the ground floor (upper ground level) accessible through the alternative entrance and by the elevator.
The passages leading to the wings from the stairwells (and the elevator) consist of narrow double doors (wing width: 2x 60 cm). Upon agreement, the building administration can arrange for the opening of the secondary door wings.
Classroom doors are usually single-leaf (width: 80 cm min.) with thresholds (height: 3 cm max.). Classrooms 14, 112, 115 and 216 have double doors with a narrow main wing. In addition, classrooms 115 and 216 have limited space behind the entrance, with a very narrow aisle between the door and the seats, which are anchored to the floor (width: 52 cm min.).
There is sufficient maneuvering space in the rest of the building.
The library has a separate entrance from the courtyard. The single-leaf door (width: 95 cm) with a bell (at the height of 126 cm) opens mechanically inwards.
An elevator with insufficient cabin depth (automatic door width: 90 cm; cabin width: 123 cm, depth: 94 cm) connects all the floors between the basement and the third floor of the building. The cabin is equipped with a handrail on the side wall and a mirror on the front wall. The folding seat is not within reach of the controls. The controls in front of the elevator are at a maximum height of 114 cm, the maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 143 cm.
There are a total of two accessible restrooms in the building. A separate accessible restroom (door width: 80 cm; cubicle width: 153 cm, depth: 134 cm) with insufficient depth is located on the second floor. The single door to the restroom is labeled and opens mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet when facing the entrance to the restroom is from the right. There is limited wheelchair space next to the toilet (width: 72 cm). The toilet is equipped with two folding handles with insufficient length (length: 67 cm). You need a Euro key to unlock the restroom. The key is available at the reception.
The second accessible toilet is located on the third floor. It has identical parameters, with the addition of a folding changing table on the side wall, meaning the usable space in the restroom is narrower (width: 141 cm), and so is the space next to the toilet (width: 62 cm). Other than that, the layout and the equipment is identical.
There are two accessible parking spaces in Divadelní Street at the rear entrance to the building.
You can take trams 17 and 18 to the Národní divadlo stop for an accessible route to the building (only in the direction of Staroměstská). You will exit onto a platform with a curb cut. You can also take trams 6, 9, 18 and 22 to the stop Národní divadlo at Národní třída, which is wheelchair accessible in both directions. For more information see www.dpp.cz.
