Overview of accessibility


Description of the building

Thebuilding with six above-ground and three underground floors is part of theuniversity campus that was built in close proximity to the university hospital.The theoretical institutes of the faculty, the dean’s office, supportworkplaces, the library, three lecture halls, seminar rooms, examination roomswith emergency facilities, laboratories, a simulation centre, study rooms, anda canteen are located here.


Entrance

Thesurface of the access walkway from Alej Svobody Street, where the nearestpublic transport stop is located, consists of concrete paving with a slightlongitudinal slope (max. 6%).


Thespace in front of the main entrance at the level of the 1st above-groundfloor is flat. The double doors of the main entrance open automatically to thesides. The width of the passage is sufficient.


Interior

The main entrance is followed by a spacious entrance hall with areception area (counter height 115 cm). To the left of the reception, acorridor leads to a junction, which connects the main building of the faculty tothe closely adjacent Biomedical Centre.


The entire main building is accessible. All floors are connected by four lifts(see Lifts).


The building includes 2 tiered lecture rooms: Green and Brown. Both areaccessible from the 1st and 2nd above-ground floors. Atthe level of the upper entrance (2nd above-ground floor), a reservedplace for a person with a wheelchair can be created by removing the seat in thelast row. The third lecture room (Azure) on the 1st above-groundfloor is level. The unmarked space for a person with a wheelchair is in frontof the first row of seats.


The closed departments in the building are equipped with a doorbell(height 150 cm) and a chip reader (height 122 to 125 cm). Doors and otherpassages are a minimum of 80 cm wide. The manoeuvring space in the interior issufficient.


Access to the utilitarian roof on the 4th above-ground flooris via a short staircase (4 steps up) with an inclined stair platform (loadcapacity 250 kg; manoeuvring area dimensions width 80 cm, depth 110 cm). Themanoeuvring space on the lower and upper landings is sufficient. The platformis not self-service.


Lift

Four lifts of the same parameters are positioned in arow next to each other and are located by the main staircase.


The lifts (automatically opening door width 90 cm;cabin width 135 cm, depth 210 cm) connect the 3rd underground floorto the 6th above-ground floor. The manoeuvring space in front of thelifts is sufficient. The cabins are equipped with a pull-down seat, a handle(height 90 cm), and a mirror (bottom edge height 90 cm) on the front wall. Thereis a button panel at the entrances (height 120 cm) for all four lifts that isused to select the desired floor. There are only technical and safety controlsin the cabins.


Sanitary facilities

Thereare a total of 14 accessible toilets in the building.


Apair of stalls in a mirror-image layout with the same parameters are availablenear the central staircase of the 2nd to 6th above-groundfloors. The stalls (door width 90; stall width 214 to 218 cm, depth 186 cm)have a 90° reversed disposition (the toilet bowl is anchored to the side wall).The single-panel doors to the stalls are marked, and they open mechanicallyoutwards. Access to the toilet bowl from the stall entrance is from theleft/right. There is enough space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl(width min. 114 cm). The toilets are always equipped with one fixed and one pull-downhandle.


Apair of accessible toilets on the 1st above-ground and 1stunderground floors (near the canteen) also have a mirror-image layout. Thedimensions and layout of the stalls (door width 90; stall width 182-192 cm,depth 220 cm) are similar. The single-panel doors to the stalls are marked, andthey open mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet bowl (anchored on therear wall) is from the left/right as seen from the entrance to the stall. Thereis enough space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl (minimum width 120cm). The toilet are always equipped with one fixed and one pull-down handle.


Parking

There are 8 reserved parking spaces inthe parking area in front of the main entrance.
