Overview of accessibility

Description of the building

The faculty is located in a Neoclassical building that has five above-ground floors and two underground floors.

Entrance

The surface of the access pavement is made of flat mosaic tiles. The main entrance to the building is barrier-free (access ramp). A smaller platform leads to the side double door (main panel width 80 cm, side panel width 82 cm), which opens mechanically outwards. From the entrance hall, where the reception area is located (desk height 112 cm), a short staircase (4 stairs up) with a straight ramp leads to the covered atrium of the building (gradient 10%, width 130 cm, length 520 cm, double-sided handrail height 104 cm) with a sloping stair platform (load capacity 225 kg, traffic area width 80 cm, depth 126 cm). The manoeuvring spaces on the lower and upper stair landings are sufficient.

A locked side entrance is available from 17. listopadu Street. The surface of the access pavement is made of mosaic tiles, which in front of the entrance turns into coarser historical paving with a transverse slope (up to 6%). The double-panel wide door (width 2x 150 cm) opens automatically to the sides. The doorbell (height 108 cm) is located to the right of the door in the corner. It is somewhat difficult to access.

After the entrance, there is a passage with coarser paving and a longitudinal slope (5%-12%) to the inner courtyard, where there is direct access to a lift.

Interior

The courtyard level and all floors of the building are connected by a lift with doors on both sides. The above-ground floors, with the exception of the attic space, are also connected by a pair of lifts in the atrium, but the depth of these lifts is not sufficient.

Most of the classrooms in the building are accessible from the central corridors, which are connected to the lift.

There are four cases in the building where there are different levels. The different height level (3 steps up) between the atrium and the side interconnected wings (2nd above-ground floor) is resolved by a single ramp (gradient 10%, width 130 cm, length 420 cm, double-sided railing height 106 cm). This connects the side wing with the lift, the atrium, and the entrance hall with the reception area.

Another raised-level access area (16 steps up) leads from the central corridor of the 3rd above-ground floor (marked as the 1st floor) to lecture room no. 120. The staircase is equipped with a sloping stair platform (load capacity 200 kg, traffic area width 80 cm, depth 118 cm ). However, the manoeuvring space (depth 150 cm) on the upper stair landing is insufficient with regard to opening the classroom door outwards on the landing.

On the 5th above-ground floor, the raised-level access (7 steps up) from the central corridor to classroom no. 300 is resolved by a steep single ramp (gradient 18%, width 110 cm, length 629 cm, double-sided railing height 107 cm).

The raised-level entrance to the office of the Department of Commercial Law (room no. 223) on the 4th above-ground floor (3 steps up) is not barrier-free.

The manoeuvring space in the interior is sufficient. The doors to classrooms, offices and other rooms are either single-panel (width min. 80 cm) or double-panel (main panel width min. 70 cm).

Barrier-free access to the canteen at the level of the 1st underground floor is from the courtyard through a double door (width 2x 74 cm). The door is difficult to handle. The regular entrance leads from the entrance hall up a staircase. The second wing of the 1st underground floor with cloakrooms and a workshop is accessible by a lift with doors on both sides.

There is a gym, rehabilitation surgery, and technical rooms in the 2nd underground floor which is connected to the lift.

The tiered lecture rooms always have manoeuvring space at the lower section by the door.

Lift

The building has three lifts and a paternoster.

A lift with doors on both sides (automatically opening doors width 90 cm, cabin width 110 cm, depth 210 cm) connects the 2nd underground floor to the 5th above-ground floor. The manoeuvring space in front of the lift is limited by a recess (width 108 cm, depth 124 cm). The cabin with doors on the opposite side is not equipped with a mirror. The pull-down seat and handle are on the side wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 98 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 128 cm.

A pair of smaller lifts in the atrium of the building (automatically opening door width 70 cm, cabin width 101 cm, depth 84 cm) has the same parameters and connects the elevated ground floor to the 4th above-ground floor. The manoeuvring space in front of the lifts is sufficient. The cabins are equipped with pull-down seats, a mirror, and a handle (height 88 cm) on the front wall. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 96 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 118 cm.

Sanitary facilities

There are two modified toilets in the building. A separate accessible toilet (door width 90 cm, stall width 213 cm, depth 214 cm) with a spacious hallway is located in the central corridor on the 3rd above-ground floor by the lift. The single-panel door to the toilet stall is marked and opens mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet when looking from the entrance into the stall is on the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 143 cm). The toilet is equipped with one pull-down and one fixed handle.

The second modified toilet is located on the 2nd above-ground floor in the men’s toilet facility with a spacious hallway. However, the stall (door width 80 cm, stall width 148 cm, depth 128 cm) has insufficient depth. The marked single-panel door to the toilet opens mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet when looking from the entrance into the stall is on the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 80 cm). The toilet is only equipped with a pull-down handle on the right.

Parking

The nearest reserved parking space is located on Pařížská Street at the intersection with Břehová Street. The path to the side entrance of the faculty building leads down a pavement with even mosaic tiles. The crossing for 17. Listopadu Street has lowered curbs on both sides.
