The Carolina Centre is one of the departments of CU Point. Our services are intended for students of all faculties who find themselves in a challenging life situation during their studies and are in need of support. We primarily focus on supporting individuals with health-related and socio-economic disadvantages.
Since 1996, Charles University has operated a centre for coordinating services for students with various types of disadvantages, which has been known as the Carolina Centre since 2018. The aim of the Centre is to ensure that support across all 17 faculties is consistent and that students receive appropriate and high-quality support.
We continuously respond to changes and innovations in the filed of support services– whether these involve new technologies or the creation and enhancement of new types of services and the like. We draw inspiration from international practice as well as from other universities in the Czech Republic. At the same time, we greatly appreciate feedback from students themselves, as it helps us identify weak spots in the system or areas that might otherwise be overlooked.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with suggestions for improvement, comments, or even positive feedback on the services we provide.
Charles University is a member of the Association of Providers of Services to Students with Special Needs in Higher Education (AP3SP), which promotes the development and enhancement of professional services, ensures compliance with service quality standards, and promotes the concept of equal access to education.
The Carolina Centre also cooperates with the Association of University Counsellors (AVŠP), which is committed to fostering the development and quality of academic, psychological, special educational, professional, and career counselling, including related advisory and information services.
The Centre’s activities focus on the following areas:
Support for students and applicants with special needs
Support for students and applicants from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds (e.g., low-income students)
Support for student parents
Support for students originating from Ukraine
In addition to a detailed description of our activities, you can find all relevant information on this website that may be useful to you during your studies. This will help you stay informed about the range of support offered by the university and its faculties.
If you are unable to reach us by phone, please contact us via email. We are available for in-person meetings by prior arrangement. Thank you.
