To start using services for students with special needs (provided by the Carolina Center and faculties), you need to follow 3 steps:
After completing these 3 steps, you will receive the status of "student with special needs," which is automatically valid until the completion of your studies.
First, you need a document confirming your health disadvantage. You will present this document to the diagnostic specialist at the meeting.
| a. |
Document about disability from your previous studies or from your doctor, or |
| b. |
document of special learning disability, or |
| c. |
document of autism spectrum disorder based on a comprehensive examination by a clinical psychologist, or |
| d. |
medical report on the results of a specialized medical examination. |
To be classified as a student with mental health needs, you must provide a report from a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist. This examination cannot be conducted by a psychologist from the university counseling services.
During the personal interview, you will discuss your needs and any potential limitations that may affect your studies. You will then receive an assessment with recommendations for support measures designed to help make your studies easier.
This assessment can be updated if necessary — for example, if you change your major (which may involve different requirements for study modifications) or if your health condition changes.
It is recommended to contact a specialist from the list according to your condition.
Arrange an appointment with the selected specialist by e-mail.
The specialist will fill out a document with information about your studies and their further course during the interview.
In the first part of the interview, the specialist will need basic information about you and your studies.
In the second part, they will write down special modifications you will need during your studies.
In the final part, the specialist will explain why these modifications are recommended and how teachers should work with them.
Finally, you will check the completed document and confirm it with your signature.
Once your document with study modifications has been signed by both the diagnostic specialist and you, you must register in person at the study department. Bring your diagnostic interview assessment and medical report, and sign the informed consent form there as well. The study officers will provide you with the informed consent form. By signing it, you agree to have your data regarding your status as a student with special needs entered into the information system under the 'Student' section.
