Charles University has long been committed to ensuring barrier-free access to its buildings and educational facilities.
However, this effort is complicated by the fact that the University operates in more than one hundred buildings, many of which are historic and protected as cultural heritage sites.
Below you will find up-to-date information on the accessibility status of the main buildings of Charles University and its constituent parts. The information includes, among other things, contact details for responsible staff, directions to the location, and descriptions of accessibility and orientation systems. Details about additional faculty buildings will be added gradually.

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
The historic five-story building houses educational and administrative facilities, a library with a reading room, a chapel, and accommodation for the Archbishop’s Seminary.
Entrance
The access path is asphalt with minor surface irregularities. The main entrance is not wheelchair accessible (+7, +2 steps). The double-leaf door (width 2×70 cm) opens manually inward. A doorbell (height 91 cm) is located to the left on the façade beneath the staircase. Inside, there is a reception desk (counter height 126 cm), followed by a short staircase (+3 steps) leading to the main corridor of the elevated ground floor.
A locked side entrance is accessible from Kolejní Street. The access path is also asphalt but without significant damage. The double-leaf gate (width 2×160 cm) opens automatically outward. A doorbell (height 90 cm) is located to the left of the gate. The entrance leads to a courtyard with an asphalt surface, local unevenness, and a longitudinal slope (up to 5%). The courtyard itself has a steep slope (10–15%), a rough concrete surface, and two transverse drainage channels covered with warped metal grates.
The courtyard is divided by an internal wing connected to the Church of St. Adalbert via a passageway. This passage leads to the second part of the courtyard with an elevator. Before entering the passage, there is a straight single-flight ramp (slope 16.5%, width 176 cm, length 222 cm) with an insufficient top landing (depth 64 cm). The double-leaf door (main leaf width 75 cm, secondary leaf width 78 cm, threshold height 2 cm) opens manually inward. A short corridor leads to another door of the same width, without a ramp. To the right behind the door is a through elevator connecting the courtyard level with two underground and five above-ground floors.
Interior
The building has four elevators, one in each wing. Only the main corridor on the 3rd floor connects all wings at the same level. The 4th and 5th floors of the main wing contain locked accommodation areas of the Archbishop’s Seminary. Elevators in the side and rear wings operate independently. Only the rear wing elevator, with a limited cabin depth (115 cm), provides access to the library (door width 2×73 cm, doorbell height 124 cm) on the 4th floor. Similarly, the elevator in the southern side wing, with manually operated doors and a cabin depth of 110 cm, provides access to rooms on the 4th floor.
The central part of the main wing on the 2nd floor is elevated (+/- 7 steps) and served by the main through elevator from the courtyard. Access to the side wings is provided by ramps at both staircases. These are straight single-flight ramps (slope 8%, width 123 cm, length 12 m) with handrails on both sides (height 105 cm) and sufficient maneuvering space at both ends, but lack intermediate landings.
Staircases in the central part of the main wing on the 1st floor are not equipped with ramps, but both levels are served by separate elevators. To access rooms no. 8–35 in the southern side and part of the main wing, entry from the courtyard is required due to +2 steps at the elevator. At the courtyard entrance, there is a compensatory ramp (slope 11%, length 63 cm), and double-leaf doors (width 2×66 cm) open manually outward. Another set of double-leaf doors (width 2×70 cm) leads to the main corridor.
Catechetical and pastoral centers located in the internal wing behind the Church of St. Adalbert are accessible only via stair landings (+/- 11 steps) from the main wing.
Elevators
Main East Wing Elevator
Automatic doors (width 100 cm); cabin width 150 cm, depth 205 cm. Connects the 2nd underground to the 5th above-ground floor, including the courtyard level and elevated front wing. The 4th and 5th floors are locked. The cabin has a handrail and a mirror (bottom edge height 92 cm) on the side wall. No foldable seat. Controls at entry points are max. 110 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 128 cm.
North Side Wing Elevator
Automatic doors (width 80 cm); cabin width 115 cm, depth 115 cm. Connects the 1st underground to the 5th above-ground floor. The 4th and 5th floors are locked. The cabin has a mirror on the front wall (bottom edge height 100 cm). No foldable seat. Controls at entry points are max. 111 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 115 cm.
Rear West Wing Elevator
Automatic doors (width 80 cm); cabin width 133 cm, depth 115 cm. Connects the ground floor to the 4th floor with the library. The cabin has a handrail and a mirror on the front wall (bottom edge height 100 cm). No foldable seat. Controls at entry points are max. 119 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 110 cm.
South Side Wing Elevator
Manually operated shaft doors (width 76 cm); manually operated cabin doors (width 2×38 cm); cabin width 103 cm, depth 110 cm. Connects the 1st underground to the 5th above-ground floor. No mirror or foldable seat. Controls at entry points are max. 129 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 128 cm. On the 1st floor, there are +2 steps before the elevator (see Interior).
Sanitary Facilities
An adapted toilet is located on the 2nd floor in the north side wing. The accessible toilet (door width 80 cm; cabin width 194 cm, depth 225 cm) is directly accessible from the main corridor. The single-leaf door is marked and opens manually outward. From the entrance, the toilet bowl is accessible from the right. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair next to the bowl (width 129 cm). The toilet is equipped with two foldable support rails.
The cabin includes a changing table placed in a recess, which does not obstruct toilet use.
Parking and Transport
There are two designated accessible parking spaces near the building—one in front of the main entrance and another at the intersection of Seminární and Kolejní streets. However, both lack curb ramps.
The nearest accessible metro station is Dejvická (Line A, with elevator). Trams also serve the Dejvická and closer Thákurova stops. Entry is also possible via the gate from Kolejní Street. Due to the longer walking distance (700 m and 300 m respectively) and the steep slope of the courtyard, which includes hazardous drainage grates, this route is not recommended without a capable companion. More information at www.dpp.cz.
Additional Accessibility Information (from the Faculty Website)
For Students with Visual Impairments
A sound beacon guides blind users to the main entrance. Some rooms have tactile signs with Braille indicating their name or number.

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
The building of the Hussite Theological Faculty houses the Dean’s Office, Study Department, specialized library, departments of Hussite and Orthodox Theology, Judaic Studies, Religious Studies, Philosophy, and other non-theological disciplines. The faculty uses only the main building and the left wing of the complex.
Entrance
The access path is asphalt with surface damage. Entry to the faculty grounds is through a double-leaf gate (width 2×88 cm) without a doorbell.
In front of the main entrance, there is a short staircase (+3 steps), insufficiently compensated by a steep single-flight ramp (slope 28%, width 100 cm, length 162 cm) without anti-slip protection or handrails. The top landing is spacious. The double-leaf entrance door (main leaf width 99 cm, secondary leaf width 100 cm) opens manually outward. There is no doorbell at the entrance. To the right inside the entrance is a reception desk (counter height 88 cm).
A secondary locked entrance leads to the ground floor of the main building near the connection to the left wing. In front of this entrance are +2 steps, again insufficiently compensated by a single-flight ramp (slope 20%, width 82 cm, length 200 cm) without anti-slip protection or handrails. The top landing is spacious. The double-leaf entrance door (main leaf width 85 cm, secondary leaf width 87 cm) has +1 step and a metal compensatory ramp (slope 20%, width 60 cm, length 76 cm) and opens manually outward. No doorbell is present.
A separate entrance leads to the left wing. In front of this entrance is a single-flight ramp (slope 12–13%, width 147 cm, length 240 cm) with handrails on both sides (height 90 cm). The top landing is spacious.
Interior
From the main entrance, a staircase leads to the 2nd floor, equipped with an inclined stair platform lift (capacity 300 kg; platform width 84 cm, depth 108 cm; control panel max. height 113 cm). Maneuvering space at both landings is sufficient.
On the 2nd floor are the Study Department, Department of Biblical Studies and Judaic Studies (door width 2×60 cm), and lecture halls (door width 2×60 cm).
Floors 2–5 of the main wing, which include the library, chapel, departments, and Dean’s Office, are connected by a passenger elevator. The 6th floor, with classroom H 503, is accessible only by stairs.
The 1st floor (lower than the main entrance level), housing the Karolinum Publishing House print shop, is also accessible via an inclined stair platform lift (same parameters as above). Maneuvering space at both landings is sufficient.
A third platform lift with identical specifications overcomes +6 steps at the southern end of the 1st-floor corridor. The upper station is on a staircase landing between the main and left wings. This spacious landing serves as a transfer point to a fourth inclined stair platform lift of the same dimensions. Assistance is required to call the lift from the landing.
The fourth platform lift connects the secondary entrance level of the main wing (see Entrance), where the Department of Religious Studies, cafeteria, and accessible toilet are located, with lecture hall H 109 (door width 2×72 cm) and the 2nd floor of the left wing.
The left wing, with its own entrance (see Entrance), has four floors connected by an elevator (see Elevator). On floors 2–4, a main corridor leads from the elevator, with classrooms and offices along it (door width min. 80 cm). On the 1st floor, the corridor is blocked by a kitchen. Therefore, access to the cafeteria and accessible toilet is only possible via the secondary entrance of the main building.
Elevator
Main Building Elevator
Automatic doors (width 90 cm); cabin width 100 cm, depth 140 cm. Connects floors 2–5. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a handrail (height 90 cm) on the side wall and a mirror (bottom edge height 5 cm) on the front wall. Controls at entry points are max. 92 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 111 cm.
Left Wing Elevator
Through elevator with automatic doors (width 90 cm); cabin width 100 cm, depth 140 cm. Connects floors 1–4. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a handrail (height 90 cm) and a mirror (bottom edge height 93 cm) on the side wall. Controls at entry points are max. 92 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 111 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
A standalone accessible toilet (door width 80 cm; cabin width 188 cm, depth 300 cm) is located on the ground floor of the left wing near the cafeteria. The single-leaf door is marked and opens manually outward. From the entrance, the toilet bowl is accessible from the left. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair next to the bowl (width 105 cm). The toilet is equipped with two foldable support rails.
Parking and Transport
There are no designated accessible parking spaces available.
The nearest metro station is Budějovická, approximately 10 minutes away. However, sidewalks often lack curb ramps. The curbs are not high, and the area is residential, so it is possible to travel on the road if necessary. More information at www.dpp.cz.

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
The faculty is housed in a neoclassical building with five above-ground and two underground floors.
Entrance
The access path is made of flat mosaic paving. The main entrance is wheelchair accessible via a ramp. A smaller platform leads to the secondary double-leaf door (main leaf width 80 cm, secondary leaf width 82 cm), which opens manually outward. From the entrance hall, where the reception desk is located (counter height 112 cm), a short staircase (+4 steps) leads to the covered atrium. This is equipped with a straight single-flight ramp (slope 10%, width 130 cm, length 520 cm, handrails on both sides at height 104 cm) and an inclined stair platform lift (capacity 225 kg; platform width 80 cm, depth 126 cm). Maneuvering space at both landings is sufficient.
A locked side entrance is available from 17. listopadu Street. The access path is mosaic, transitioning into rough historic paving with a cross slope (up to 6%) near the gate. The wide double-leaf gate (width 2×150 cm) opens automatically sideways. A doorbell (height 108 cm) is located to the right of the door in the corner, but is difficult to reach.
The entrance leads to a passage with rough paving and a longitudinal slope (5–12%) into the inner courtyard, which provides direct access to the elevator.
Interior
All floors, including the courtyard level, are connected by a through passenger elevator. Additionally, a pair of smaller elevators in the atrium connect the above-ground floors (except attic spaces), but have insufficient cabin depth.
Most classrooms throughout the building are accessible at level from the main corridors connected to the through elevator.
There are four level differences within the building:
A height difference (+3 steps) between the atrium and the side wings on the 2nd floor is bridged by a straight single-flight ramp (slope 10%, width 130 cm, length 420 cm, handrails on both sides at height 106 cm), creating a connection between the side wing with the through elevator, the atrium, and the entrance hall with reception.
A level difference (+16 steps) from the main corridor on the 3rd floor (marked as 1st floor) to lecture hall no. 120 is bridged by an inclined stair platform lift (capacity 200 kg; platform width 80 cm, depth 118 cm). The maneuvering space (depth 150 cm) at the upper landing is insufficient due to the outward-opening door of the lecture hall.
On the 5th floor, a level difference (+7 steps) from the main corridor to classroom no. 300 is bridged by a steep single-flight ramp (slope 18%, width 110 cm, length 629 cm, handrails on both sides at height 107 cm).
Access to the Department of Commercial Law office (room no. 223) on the 4th floor (+3 steps) is not wheelchair accessible.
Maneuvering space throughout the interior is sufficient. Doors to classrooms, offices, and other rooms are either single-leaf (minimum width 80 cm) or double-leaf (main leaf minimum width 70 cm).
Wheelchair access to the cafeteria on the 1st underground floor is available from the courtyard via double-leaf doors (width 2×74 cm), although door operation is difficult. The standard entrance is via stairs from the entrance hall. The second wing of the 1st underground floor, containing changing rooms and a workshop, is accessible via the through elevator.
The 2nd underground floor, also connected to the through elevator, houses a gym, rehabilitation clinic, and technical rooms.
Tiered lecture halls have maneuvering space at the bottom near the entrance.
Elevators
There are three elevators and one paternoster (loop elevator) in the building:
Through Elevator
Automatic doors (width 90 cm); cabin width 110 cm, depth 210 cm. Connects the 2nd underground to the 5th above-ground floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is limited by a niche (width 108 cm, depth 124 cm). The cabin has opposite doors, no mirror, and is equipped with a foldable seat and handrail on the side wall. Controls at entry points are max. 98 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 128 cm.
Pair of Atrium Elevators
Automatic doors (width 70 cm); cabin width 101 cm, depth 84 cm. Connect the raised ground floor to the 4th floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevators is sufficient. Cabins are equipped with foldable seats, mirrors, and handrails (height 88 cm) on the front wall. Controls at entry points are max. 96 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 118 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are two adapted toilets in the building:
Accessible Toilet on the 3rd Floor
Located in the main corridor near the through elevator. The standalone accessible toilet (door width 90 cm; cabin width 213 cm, depth 214 cm) has a spacious anteroom. The single-leaf door is marked and opens manually outward. From the entrance, the toilet bowl is accessible from the left. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair next to the bowl (width 143 cm). The toilet is equipped with one foldable and one fixed support rail.
Adapted Toilet on the 2nd Floor
Located in the men's restroom with a spacious anteroom. The cabin (door width 80 cm; cabin width 148 cm, depth 128 cm) has insufficient depth. The marked single-leaf door opens manually outward. From the entrance, the bowl is accessible from the right. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair next to the bowl (width 80 cm). The toilet is equipped with one foldable support rail on the right.
Parking and Transport
The nearest designated accessible parking space is located on Pařížská Street, at the intersection with Břehová Street. The route to the side entrance of the faculty building follows a sidewalk with flat mosaic paving. The pedestrian crossing over 17. listopadu Street has lowered curbs on both sides.

In front of the entrance, there are +2 steps, bridged by a straight single-flight ramp (slope 12.5%, width 145 cm, length 125 cm) with a single handrail (height 91 cm) and a rough tiled surface. Maneuvering space below the ramp is sufficient.
The double-leaf entrance door (main leaf width 65 cm, secondary leaf width 70 cm) opens manually inward. Despite the insufficient width of the main leaf, the building is still considered partially accessible due to the good accessibility of the doorbell (height 99 cm), located to the left of the door above the ramp.
From the entrance, a staircase (+6 steps) leads to the elevated ground floor, equipped with an inclined stair platform lift (capacity 300 kg; platform width 84 cm, depth 109 cm). The lift is self-operated (buttons max. height 104 cm). Maneuvering space at both landings is sufficient.
Interior
To the right of the entrance is the library (door width 2×60 cm). To the left, a corridor leads to the lowered ground floor (-2 steps) via a straight single-flight ramp (slope 16.5%, width 85 cm, length 177 cm) to Classroom II (door width 2×60 cm). Straight ahead, the corridor leads to the records office, consulting rooms (door width 2×60 cm), a training bathroom for patients (door width 2×72 cm), Classroom III, and the elevator, which connects all main floors of the building.
From the basement level, which is also connected to the ground floor by elevator, a short staircase (-3 steps) leads to a lowered section with a storage room and compensatory aid testing room (door width min. 80 cm). The elevation is bridged by a vertical platform lift (capacity not specified; platform width 81 cm, depth 126 cm). The lift is self-operated (buttons max. height 70 cm). Maneuvering space at both landings is sufficient.
The basement also contains a day care center and an exit to the courtyard (door width 86 cm), where parking spaces are available upon prior arrangement. Entry to the courtyard is via a gate from Studničkova Street.
Lecture halls, gym, psychology and occupational therapy consulting rooms (door width 2×60 cm) are located on the 2nd floor. The 3rd floor houses the Institute of Nursing Theory and Practice, which includes a bathroom with a shower without a raised edge (door width 80 cm; cabin width 222 cm, depth 179 cm) and a toilet without support rails.
Maneuvering space throughout the building is sufficient.
Elevator
The elevator (automatic doors width 80 cm; cabin width 100 cm, depth 140 cm) connects the lowered basement (-1) to the 3rd floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a foldable seat and a handrail (height 93 cm) on the side wall. There is no mirror in the cabin. Controls at entry points are max. 92 cm high; inside the cabin, max. 107 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are three adapted toilets and two training bathrooms in the building (see Interior).
Partially Accessible Toilet in the Basement
(door width 80 cm; cabin width 225 cm, depth 125–160 cm). The single-leaf door is marked and opens manually outward. From the entrance, the toilet bowl is accessible from the left. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair next to the bowl (width 149 cm). The toilet is equipped with one foldable and one fixed support rail. The sink is located in the access corridor.
Second Adapted Toilet in the Lowered Ground Floor
(door width 90 cm; cabin width 92–152 cm, depth 166 cm). This toilet does not meet accessibility standards due to insufficient dimensions and maneuvering space.
Third Adapted Toilet on the 2nd Floor
(door width 91 cm; cabin width 157 cm, depth 142 cm), part of a sanitary unit (door width 90 cm; anteroom width 131 cm, depth 303 cm). The single-leaf door is marked and opens manually outward. From the entrance, the bowl mounted on the left side wall is accessible from the left. Maneuvering space next to the bowl is limited (width 78 cm). The toilet is equipped with one foldable and one fixed support rail. The sink is located in the anteroom.

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
The complex of three buildings (A, B, C) houses the theoretical institutes of the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. Currently, only buildings B and C are used for teaching, and they are interconnected.
Entrance
Access from the nearest public transport stop is particularly challenging. The sidewalk along Bucharova Street has a steep continuous slope (up to 15%). The route, with occasional rough surfaces, continues through a car service parking lot, along fencing and the building complex, to a short connecting path turning right toward the faculty building. Individual car transport is recommended for easier access.
The main entrance is located in Building B at the ground floor level. In front of the entrance is a short staircase (+4 steps) with a side ramp (slope 5–6%, width 210 cm, length 400 cm), which lacks handrails and anti-slip protection. The top landing offers sufficient maneuvering space. The double-leaf entrance door opens automatically sideways, with sufficient clearance. A threshold strip (height 4 cm) is present. No doorbell is available. From the spacious entrance hall with reception, double-leaf doors (main leaf width 88 cm, secondary leaf width 78 cm) lead to the main corridor of the pavilion.
A side entrance (door width 2×90 cm) leads to Building C. In front of the entrance is a two-section ramp:
Section 1: slope 8%, width 230 cm, length 850 cm
Section 2: slope 6.5–8%, width 230 cm, length 940 cm
Both sections have handrails on both sides (height 90 cm). The entrance leads to the 2nd floor level.
Interior
Building B
The main corridor on the ground floor has a stepped layout with a series of staircases and five consecutive side ramps (slope 7–8.5%, width 132 cm, max. ramp length 720 cm). Access to classrooms, other areas, and two elevators is always from shared landings of the ramps and staircases.
Lecture hall no. 101, with tiered seating, is located just beyond the main entrance. A ramp (slope 8%, width 124 cm, length 452 cm) leads from the door between the podium and audience seating to a designated wheelchair space, which has insufficient depth (89 cm).
Other classrooms are non-tiered, but rooms 109 and 110 have limited space behind the entrance, with a narrow aisle (min. width 80 cm) between the door and fixed seating rows.
Maneuvering space in the remaining classrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors is sufficient. Doors and other passages are at least 80 cm wide. All floors, including the 3rd and 4th floors (administration and research offices), are connected by two passenger elevators.
Building B contains three adapted toilet cabins (see Sanitary Facilities).
Building B is connected to Building C via a corridor on the 2nd floor.
Building C
All floors of Building C are connected by a passenger elevator. Interior maneuvering space is sufficient, and all doors and passages are at least 80 cm wide. The locked entrance to the Institute of Anatomy on the 1st floor has a high-mounted doorbell (height 165 cm).
Building C contains two adapted toilet cabins (see Sanitary Facilities).

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
The historic building with two underground and five above-ground floors is the main seat of the Faculty of Arts.
Entrance
The surface of the access path is flat mosaic paving. The main entrance to the building is not accessible (+7 steps); single-leaf doors (width 97 cm) open mechanically outward. The doorbell signaling (height 137 cm) is located directly on the door above the staircase. Behind the entrance is a reception desk (counter height 90 cm), from which another staircase (+6 steps) leads to the main corridor of the raised ground floor.
A locked side entrance is available from Valentinská Street. The surface of the access path is flat mosaic, which transitions into rough paving before entering the courtyard. Single-leaf doors (width 100 cm) with a steep leveling ramp (slope 20%, length 25 cm) and a threshold strip (height 2 cm) open mechanically outward. Doorbell signaling (height 113 cm) is located to the left of the entrance on the outside (from the street) and to the right (height 99 cm) on the inside (from the courtyard). The entrance leads to a passage into the courtyard with an asphalt surface, which has local unevenness and a transverse slope (up to 5%).
In the courtyard, there are two elevators: one on the façade of the main (western) wing and the other located in the rear (eastern) part of the building, accessible via a single-flight ramp (slope 11%, width 118 cm, length 292 cm, double-sided handrail height 90 cm). Both elevators are through-type and have stops in the main corridors of the building.
Interior
The building has a square floor plan, with perimeter corridors on the 2nd to 5th floors connecting all four wings on the same level. Access to these corridors from the adapted courtyard entrance is provided by two elevators (see Entrance and Elevator). Doors to classrooms, offices, and other rooms, including the cinema hall (5th floor), are mostly double-leaf (main leaf width 60 cm, side leaf width 62 cm) with thresholds (height 2–3 cm). Other passages are at least 80 cm wide. Maneuvering space inside is sufficient.
In the raised ground floor (1st floor), staircases (+10 steps) lead from the main wing (accessible from the courtyard via the façade elevator) to both side wings. The right staircase (when viewed from the main entrance to the building) is equipped with an inclined stair platform (capacity 225 kg; transport surface width 90 cm, depth 115 cm). Maneuvering areas on both the lower and upper stair landings are sufficient. The platform is usable only with staff assistance. The raised part of the floor (i.e., both side and rear wings) is also accessible directly via the second elevator, which is reached from the courtyard via a ramp (see Entrance). Room entrances are again double-leaf (main leaf width 60 cm, side leaf width 62 cm) with thresholds (height 2–3 cm). The bistro Mezi řádky in the lower part of the floor (main wing) has single-leaf doors (width 90 cm).
On the 2nd underground floor is the library. It is accessible only via the third elevator, located in the left part of the main wing (when viewed from the main entrance to the building).
The large lecture hall (Aula) with tiered seating has access to the lower part from the rear wing (door width 2×63 cm). An unmarked space for a wheelchair user is located at the first row of seats. Access to the upper part of the Aula is not accessible and leads from the landing of the main staircase.
On the 2nd underground floor is the entrance to the three-story library. It is accessible only via the third elevator, located in the left part of the front wing (when viewed from the main entrance to the building).
At the library entrance is a service counter (height 76 cm). On the entrance level (2nd underground floor) is the Red Study Room and an adapted WC cabin (see Sanitary Facilities). The other two library floors with the Blue and Green Study Rooms are connected by a personal elevator (see Elevator).
Elevator
The façade through-type elevator (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 129 cm, depth 171 cm) connects the lowered ground floor (courtyard) to the 5th floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin with opposite doors is equipped with a folding seat and a handrail on the side wall. There is no mirror in the cabin. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 102 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 122 cm.
The second through-type elevator in the rear wing (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 173 cm, depth 128 cm) also connects the lowered ground floor (courtyard) to the 5th floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin with opposite doors is equipped with a folding seat, mirror, and handrail on the side wall. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 110 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 123 cm.
The third non-through elevator in the left part of the front wing (automatically opening doors width 80 cm; cabin width 115 cm, depth 123 cm) connects the 2nd underground floor (library), the lower part of the raised ground floor (1st floor), and the 2nd to 5th floors. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a folding seat, handrail, and mirror on the front wall. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 110 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 118 cm.
The elevator in the library (automatically opening doors width 80 cm; cabin width 94 cm, depth 131 cm) connects the three library floors. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a folding seat, mirror, and handrail on the side wall. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 96 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 102 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are a total of 10 adapted toilets in the building, located at opposite ends of the rear wing on each above-ground floor. They are always part of the WC women’s (right) and WC men’s (left) sanitary sections. However, none of the cabins meet optimal parameters. Doors to all cabins on the 3rd and 4th floors open inward, significantly limiting maneuvering space and safety. The cabin on the 2nd floor in the WC women’s section was out of service at the time of mapping (08/2019).
The best-designed cabin is on the 5th floor in the WC women’s section. Entrance doors to the toilets are single-leaf (width 80 cm) and open mechanically outward. The foyer (width min. 98 cm, depth 596 cm) is divided into two parts by another single-leaf door (width 80 cm). The partially accessible toilet (door width 78 cm; cabin width 248 cm, depth 167 cm) is located opposite the entrance doors to the toilets. The single-leaf WC door is marked and opens mechanically outward. Access to the toilet bowl, mounted on the right side wall, is from the right when viewed from the cabin entrance. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 90 cm). The toilet bowl is equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar, both of which are insufficient in length (length 61 cm). The cabin is equipped with a changing table, which does not restrict maneuvering space.
The cabin on the 5th floor in the WC men’s section has similar dimensions and is designed as a mirror image, with the toilet bowl mounted on the left wall and access from the right when viewed from the cabin entrance. The grab bars at the toilet bowl are again insufficient in length. There is no changing table in the cabin.
A partially accessible toilet (door width 76 cm – narrowed by a horizontal grab bar; cabin width 263 cm, depth 172 cm) is also located in the WC women’s section on the 1st floor. The single-leaf WC door is marked and opens mechanically outward. Access to the toilet bowl, mounted on the right side wall, is from the right when viewed from the cabin entrance. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 112 cm). The toilet bowl is equipped with two folding grab bars.
Partially accessible toilets with the same parameters on the 1st and 2nd floors in the WC men’s section (door width 70 cm – narrowed by a horizontal grab bar; cabin width 210 cm, depth 144 cm) have an unsuitable layout. The single-leaf WC doors in both floors are marked and open mechanically outward. Access to the toilet bowl, mounted on the wall next to the door, is from the right when viewed from the cabin entrance. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 148 cm). The toilet bowls are equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar.
Parking and Transport
A designated parking space is located at the intersection of Kaprova and Valentinská streets (near the rear entrance). The adjacent pedestrian crossing has lowered curbs on both sides.
In close proximity to the building is the barrier-free Staroměstská stop, served by trams number 1, 12, 17, 18, 25, and 93, and bus 194. The exit is onto islands with lowered access ramps. Bus line 207 in the direction of Ohrada, served by low-floor buses, stops next to the building in the direction of the Faculty of Law.
The deep-level metro station Staroměstská currently does not have an elevator vestibule and is therefore not accessible. More information at www.dpp.cz.

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
The complex with a spacious and segmented inner courtyard consists of six buildings, each with its own entrance. The premises are used to present student and academic projects with the aim of connecting the general public with the activities of Charles University, especially the Faculty of Arts.
Entrance
The surface of the access path on Hybernská Street is mostly flat mosaic paving. Robust entrance gates (width 2×120 cm) without doorbell signaling lead into a passageway, where on the right side above +1 step is a reception desk (window height 118 cm) and also the entrance to Building A. The passage continues into the courtyard, around which the other buildings B, C, D, E, and F are grouped. Most of the campus spaces, especially teaching areas, are not accessible. However, the building is rated as partially accessible, as some gallery areas, the café with reading room, and the actively used outdoor courtyard area have at least partial access.
Interior
Building A
The building is mainly used for gallery and administrative purposes; the Didaktikon educational center is located on the 5th floor. In front of the entrance to the building are +2 wide steps. Double-leaf swing doors (width 2×63 cm) lead into a stairwell corridor. The first flight of stairs is equipped with an inclined stair platform (capacity 250 kg; transport surface width 80 cm). The limited maneuvering space of the lower boarding area allows only side (or diagonal) boarding.
On the first stair landing, where the stair platform ends, there is access to the elevator (see Elevator). It connects the 2nd to the 5th floor. On the 2nd floor is a gallery (entrance door width 2×62 cm, threshold height 4 cm, doorbell height 137 cm). Maneuvering space inside is sufficient; hall doors are double-leaf (width 2×64 cm) with higher thresholds (height 3–5 cm). On the 5th floor is the Didaktikon educational center. A short staircase (+3 steps) leads from the elevator to it.
Building B
This building adjoins the courtyard from the east side. It houses smaller lecture halls and offices. The entrance doors are double-leaf (width 2×56 cm) with +1 step (height 4 cm). Immediately after the entrance is a staircase (+9, +15 steps) leading to the 2nd floor, where two lecture halls and a recording studio are located. Above another +4 steps is a space called “Světnice” and behind it offices. No alternative barrier-free access to the lecture halls is available.
Building C
This building is transversely set into the courtyard, dividing it into two parts (front and rear courtyard), connected by a wide passage. On the ground floor is a café with two entrances. In front of the first entrance from the front courtyard is a single-flight ramp (slope 11%, width 157 cm, length 233 cm) without handrails. Maneuvering space above and below the ramp is sufficient. Double-leaf doors (width 2×70 cm) with a threshold (height 3 cm) open mechanically inward. At the second entrance from the rear courtyard is +1 step (height 14 cm). Double-leaf doors (width 2×72 cm) with a threshold (height 2 cm) open mechanically outward. The café includes a children's corner and a large garden seating area in the rear courtyard.
Building D
This five-story building in the southeastern corner of the campus has two separate entrances. The main entrance leads to the lecture area. Double-leaf doors (width 2×60 cm) with +1 step (height 9 cm) open mechanically inward. On the ground floor, opposite the entrance, are only exhibition spaces (door width 90 cm). Other classrooms and halls are located on the 2nd to 5th floors, which are connected to the ground floor only by stairs. The second entrance leads to the gallery on the ground floor from the café (from Building C). Behind the sales counter are single-leaf doors (width 80 cm) directly into the exhibition hall, which connects to other exhibition spaces. Maneuvering areas inside are sufficient; doors and passages are at least 80 cm wide.
Building E
This building in the rear courtyard again has two separate entrances located next to each other. Both are metal garage doors (width 2×60 cm). Behind one is a steep staircase leading to exhibition spaces in the basement. In front of the second entrance is a leveling ramp (slope 16%, width 95 cm, length 44 cm), and behind it a short descending ramp (slope 13%, width 120 cm, length 120 cm) to ground floor spaces where a bar is located. The 2nd floor is accessible only via a narrow metal staircase.
Building F
This building serves as workshops. In front of the entrance are +2 steps; single-leaf doors (width 79 cm) open mechanically inward.
Information Center
The entrance to the information center is directly from Hybernská Street, to the left of the passage to the Campus. In front of the double-leaf doors (width 2×80 cm), which open mechanically inward, is +1 step (height 20 cm, depth 68 cm). Inside the door is a wooden threshold (height 3 cm). Maneuvering space inside is sufficient; the counter is at a height of 73 cm.
Elevator
The elevator in Building A (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 110 cm, depth 140 cm) connects the stair landing to the 5th floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a handrail (height 90 cm) on the front wall and a mirror (bottom edge height 5 cm) on the side wall. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 95 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 121 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
An adapted cabin is part of the sanitary facilities in Building C (between Buildings E and F). Double-leaf toilet doors (main leaf width 90 cm, side leaf width 50 cm) open mechanically outward. From the entrance, a single-flight ramp (slope 12%, width 150 cm, length 177 cm) without handrails leads to a spacious washroom foyer. The accessible toilet (door width 87 cm; cabin width 144–190 cm, depth 190 cm) is unisex. Unmarked single-leaf cabin doors open mechanically outward. Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is on the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 95 cm). The toilet bowl is equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar.
Parking and Transport
In front of the building is one longitudinal designated parking space.

The adjacent sidewalk has poor-quality paving and ends with a non-lowered curb (height 5–7 cm). The curb along the sidewalk at the faculty building is also non-lowered (height 4–6 cm). The entire route ascends with a gentle longitudinal slope (max. 6%).
In front of the main entrance is a staircase (+12 steps). The double-leaf doors of the main entrance (main leaf width 72 cm, side leaf width 76 cm) open mechanically outward. Doorbell signaling (height 119 cm) is located to the right of the door above the staircase. From the vestibule, double-leaf swing doors (width 2×80 cm) lead into the interior, followed by another staircase (+13 steps) leading to the 1st floor. In the main corridor above the entrance staircase is a reception desk.
The partially accessible side entrance leads into the building via the western wing from Votočkova Street. It is at the level of the lowered ground floor. In front of the entrance is a ramp from the roadway to the sidewalk made of rough stone paving (slope max. 7%). Another leveling concrete ramp (slope 10%, length 150 cm) is directly in front of the door. The doors are double-leaf (main leaf width 70 cm, side leaf width 76 cm) and open mechanically outward. Due to the door closer, they are difficult to open. Doorbell signaling with intercom (height 110 cm) is located to the right of the door.
The staircase behind the entrance, which connects the lowered ground floor level with the main corridor and elevator on the ground floor, is equipped with an inclined stair platform (capacity 225 kg; transport surface width 90 cm, depth 137 cm). The platform is locked and allows only front boarding. The maneuvering space of the lower boarding area is limited (width 150 cm, depth 90–100 cm). The maneuvering space above the staircase is sufficient. The upper landing is equipped with doorbell signaling (height 118 cm). Above the staircase with the platform is the lower station of a smaller elevator (see Elevator), which connects the ground floor to the 3rd floor.
Another, less suitable entrance leads into the building from Hlavova Street. Behind wide double-leaf gates with automatic opening and doorbell signaling (height 149 cm) is a courtyard with very rough stone paving and a pronounced longitudinal slope (up to 13%). In front of the door from the courtyard into the building (width 2×100 cm) is a steep leveling ramp (slope 17%, length 30 cm). No doorbell signaling is available at this entrance.
Interior
Main corridors on the ground floor to the 3rd floor, adjacent to most classrooms and offices, are connected by two elevators (see Elevator). Both are located near the side entrance.
On the 2nd and 3rd floors, some parts of the building are connected to the main corridors at different levels; access to offices and classrooms in these areas is only via stairs: 232A, 232B, 246 (+6 steps); CH7, CH8, 304 (+5 steps); CH10 chemistry seminar room (–3, +8 steps); 330, 331, 331a (+5 steps); 365–368 (+5, –3, +3 steps); sectional room (+5, +9 steps). The student club Chladič in the basement is also not accessible (–9, –2 steps).
Doors separating corridors throughout the building and the annex with the library are double-leaf with a narrowed main leaf (width min. 2×55 cm). Doors to offices, classrooms, and other rooms are either single-leaf (width min. 80 cm) or double-leaf (width min. 2×60 cm). Most doors have high thresholds (height up to 4 cm).
The lower level of the large tiered lecture hall CH1 is accessible from the 1st floor (door width 2×64 cm); there is no designated space for wheelchair users, but the area in front of or next to the lectern can be used. The second entrance to the upper level of the lecture hall is not accessible and leads from the stair landing. Smaller lecture halls are not tiered; desks are mobile.
The annex, located on the southeast side of the building, houses the library. It is connected to the main building via a passageway on the ground floor. The door to the connecting passage has a steep leveling ramp (slope 20%, length 40 cm).
The entrance doors to the library are double-leaf (main leaf width 60 cm, side leaf width 68 cm). Doorbell signaling with intercom (height 108 cm) is located to the right of the door. The doors are very difficult to operate. Public areas of the library are located only on the ground floor. The library includes a study room (table height 77 cm, clearance height 71 cm). Maneuvering space between shelves in the open-access area is limited (width 78 cm).
Elevator
Two elevators are located in the main building, and one elevator is part of the library annex.
The smaller elevator in the main building (automatically opening doors width 80 cm; cabin width 91 cm, depth 125 cm) connects the ground floor to the 3rd floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a horizontal handrail (height 91 cm) and a mirror (bottom edge 99 cm) on the front wall. The cabin includes a folding seat within reach of the control panel. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 83 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 105 cm.
The larger elevator in the main building (automatically opening doors width 140 cm; cabin width 155 cm, depth 200 cm) also connects the ground floor to the 3rd floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. On the ground floor, the area in front of the elevator has both longitudinal and transverse slope (up to 7%); on other floors, the floor in front of the elevator is level. The cabin is equipped with a horizontal handrail (height 90 cm). There is no mirror or folding seat in the cabin. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 100 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 105 cm.
The through-type elevator in the library (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 120 cm, depth 200 cm) connects the non-public depository in the basement, the ground floor, and the relaxation terrace on the 1st floor. The elevator can only be used with staff assistance. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient on the ground floor; on the terrace, the elevator is behind locked double-leaf doors. The cabin is equipped with a horizontal handrail (height 90 cm) and a mirror (bottom edge 99 cm) on the side wall. The cabin includes a folding seat within reach of the control panel. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 109 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 112 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are four adapted toilet cabins in the building. Three partially accessible WC cabins are part of the women’s WC sections on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of the southern (rear) wing of the building (near the elevators). These cabins have similar parameters and layouts (door width 80 cm; cabin width min. 154–157 cm, depth 164–168 cm) and are accessible via a foyer (width 270 cm, depth 130 cm). Single-leaf doors to all three cabins open mechanically outward. There is no horizontal grab bar on the inside of the doors. Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is always from the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 86–89 cm). Toilet bowls are always equipped with two folding grab bars.
The fourth partially accessible cabin is part of the sanitary facilities in the library (see Interior). The door to the corridor is difficult to operate due to a door closer. The cabin (door width 80 cm; cabin width 182 cm, depth 205 cm) is separate. The single-leaf WC door is marked and opens mechanically outward. Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is from the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 120 cm). The toilet bowl is equipped with only one folding grab bar; a fixed grab bar on the wall is missing. The cabin includes a folding changing table, which does not restrict maneuvering space.
Parking and Transport
Two designated parking spaces are located on Studničkova Street near the intersection with Hlavova Street. They have a flat asphalt surface. Access from the parking spaces to the building is only via a quiet asphalt roadway with a gentle slope (4%); access to the adjacent sidewalk is via –3 steps.

User Description of the Building
The complex, which houses the Department of Physical Education and the Department of Music Education, consists of a main building, a three-story annex connected via a passageway, and a covered hall with a swimming pool.
Entrance
The access path is made of a combination of concrete and mosaic paving. The main building entrance is not wheelchair accessible (+6, +1 steps).
The secondary accessible entrance to the annex, from which the passageway leads to the main building, is located approximately 100 meters from the main entrance. The access path has a damaged concrete surface. In front of the entrance is a straight single-flight ramp (slope 9%, width 110 cm, length 440 cm) with a single handrail (height 89 cm). The upper landing has sufficient maneuvering space. The double-leaf door (main leaf width 84 cm, secondary leaf width 92 cm) opens manually outward and has no doorbell.
Interior
In the spacious entrance hall of the annex, there is a reception desk (counter height 96 cm). The Faculty of Education uses only the ground floor and basement of the annex, the basement of the main building (not accessible) for the Department of Music Education, and the swimming pool. Other areas are rented by private elementary schools.
On the ground floor of the annex (level with the secondary entrance), there are three tiered lecture halls (B 103, B 104, B 105; door width 88 cm). Unmarked wheelchair spaces are located in the lower part near the doors. A corridor leads from the lecture halls to an accessible toilet cabin (see Sanitary Facilities) and to the gymnasium (door width 2×60 cm) with changing rooms.
The ground floor and basement are connected by a vertical lifting platform (capacity 600 kg; manually operated door width 90 cm; platform width 104 cm, depth 218 cm). Maneuvering space at entry points is sufficient.
In the basement, there is a student club (door width 2×80 cm), department offices (door width 80 cm; threshold height 3 cm), classroom B001, fitness room, and massage room. Access to the small gym with climbing wall is via a staircase (+3, -12 steps).

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
The FSV Jinonice campus consists of three buildings: the five-story Building A with the main entrance, library, study rooms, Language Preparation Center, Center for Scientific Information, and a café; the four-story Building B, primarily with teaching spaces; and the seven-story Building C, which includes a second entrance, lecture halls, seminar rooms, administrative facilities, and the Counseling Center for Students with Special Needs.
Entrance
The campus is located above Radlická and V Zářezu streets, where the metro station and bus stops are not accessible. The elevation difference is overcome by a three-flight staircase (+17, +18, +18 steps) leading to the main entrance. A long detour route (approx. 350 m) ascends to the campus from the southeast side; the asphalt sidewalk has a significant longitudinal slope (6–12%).
The area in front of the main entrance, located in Building A, is level and has no surface defects. Next to the revolving door are double-leaf doors (main leaf width 80 cm, side leaf width 83 cm), which open mechanically outward. To the left of the entrance is a doorbell with intercom (height 119 cm) and a chip card reader (height 117 cm).
In the entrance hall is a café (counter height 91 cm) and a central reception desk (counter height 110 cm); access to other areas – the library and Building A interior – is restricted by turnstiles with a gate.
The second entrance is part of Building C. Next to the revolving door is a single-leaf door (width 98 cm), which opens mechanically outward. To the left of the entrance is a doorbell with intercom (height 115 cm) and a chip card reader (height 95 cm). Behind the entrance are turnstiles with a gate (width 85 cm).
Exterior connection between the entrances leads through a passage in Building C.
Interior
Buildings A, B, and C are internally connected by corridors at the 1st floor level. Part of the connecting corridor between Buildings B and C has a longitudinal slope (7%). Another barrier-free horizontal connection between all buildings is on the 3rd floor. Again, part of the corridor between Buildings B and C has a longitudinal slope (5%).
The connection on the 2nd floor between Buildings B and C is not accessible. On the B side, the section has a significant slope (10%), and on the C side, there are 3 steps.
All floors of each building are connected vertically by elevators (see Elevator).
Building A
Building A houses the library (2nd to 4th floors), the Language Preparation Center (2nd floor), and the Center for Scientific Information (3rd and 4th floors). Library doors are double-leaf and open automatically to the sides. Behind the turnstiles (gate width 89 cm) is a service counter (height 78 cm and 110 cm). On the 1st floor, in a restricted-access area, are night study rooms. This area includes an accessible WC cabin (see Sanitary Facilities).
The 1st floor and other floors are connected by a passenger elevator (see Elevator). All other floors contain book collections and group or shared study rooms. Study tables allow wheelchair access (height 72 cm).
Maneuvering space inside is sufficient; all doors and short passages are at least 80 cm wide.
Building B
On the 1st floor, which is level with the entrance and Building A, are two tiered lecture halls (B103A and B103B). No designated wheelchair space is available; only a limited area in the lower part in front of the lectern can be used. The lectern itself is elevated (+2 steps).
The 1st floor and other floors are connected by a pair of passenger elevators (see Elevator). Seminar rooms and offices adjoin the main corridor on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Maneuvering space inside is sufficient; all doors and short passages are at least 80 cm wide.
Building C
On the 1st floor of Building C, which has its own entrance and is also connected to Buildings A and B via a corridor (see Entrance), are three tiered lecture halls (C117, C122, and C123). Again, no designated wheelchair space is available; only a limited area in the lower part in front of the lectern can be used. The side aisle is not divided by steps but has a continuous slope (6%). The entrance to lecture hall C117 consists of double-leaf doors with a narrowed main leaf (width 2×74 cm).
The 1st floor and other floors are connected by two passenger elevators (see Elevator). Seminar rooms and offices adjoin the main corridors on the 2nd to 6th floors. Maneuvering space inside the rooms is sufficient, but maneuvering areas in front of room entrances from narrow corridors (width min. 110 cm) are limited. All doors and short passages are at least 80 cm wide.
Elevator
Building A
Passenger elevator (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 122 cm, depth 210 cm) connects the 1st basement to the 1st floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a handrail (height 94 cm) on the side wall, mirrors (bottom edge height 5 cm) on the front and side walls, and a folding seat. Control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 103 cm; maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 101 cm.
Passenger elevator (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 112 cm, depth 209 cm) connects the 1st basement to the 4th floor of the library. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a handrail (height 92 cm) on the side wall, a mirror (bottom edge height 5 cm) on the front wall, and a folding seat. Control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 103 cm; maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 114 cm.
Building B
Pair of mirror-arranged passenger elevators with identical parameters (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 119 cm, depth 150 cm) connect the 1st basement to the 3rd floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevators is sufficient. The cabins are equipped with a handrail (height 92 cm) on the side wall, mirrors (bottom edge height 5 cm) on the front and side walls, and a folding seat. Control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 104 cm; maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 110 cm.
Building C
Larger passenger elevator (automatically opening doors width 80 cm; cabin width 110 cm, depth 180 cm) connects the 1st to the 6th floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a handrail (height 94 cm) on the side wall, a mirror (bottom edge height 5 cm) on the front wall, and a folding seat. Control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 102 cm; maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 117 cm.
Smaller passenger elevator (automatically opening doors width 80 cm; cabin width 105 cm, depth 125 cm) connects the 1st basement to the 6th floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a handrail (height 94 cm) on the side wall, a mirror (bottom edge height 5 cm) on the front wall, and a folding seat. Control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 103 cm; maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 120 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are a total of 11 adapted toilet cabins in the building.

The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 123 cm). The toilet bowl is equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar.
On the 2nd to 4th floors of the library, there is one separate accessible cabin per floor (door width 90 cm; cabin width 182 cm, depth 215 cm), located in the sanitary facilities near the central staircase. The cabins are identical in size and layout. The single-leaf WC doors are marked and open mechanically outward. Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is from the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 118 cm). Each toilet bowl is equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar.
Building B
On the 1st floor of Building B, there is a separate partially accessible cabin (door width 90 cm; cabin width 156 cm – narrowed to 145 cm by a heating unit, depth 201 cm). The single-leaf WC door is marked and opens mechanically outward with difficulty. Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is from the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 85 cm). The toilet bowl is equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar.
Building C
On the 2nd to 5th floors of the western wing of Building C, there is one separate accessible cabin per floor (door width 80 cm; cabin width 160 cm, depth 164 cm), located in the sanitary facilities. Access to the WC is from a narrow corridor (width min. 110 cm). The cabins are identical in size and layout. The single-leaf WC doors are marked and open mechanically outward with difficulty. Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is from the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 100 cm). Each toilet bowl is equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar.
On the 6th floor, an accessible cabin (door width 80 cm; cabin width 196 cm, depth 172 cm) is located near the Counseling Center for Students with Special Needs. Access to the WC is again from a narrow corridor (width min. 110 cm). The single-leaf WC door is marked and opens mechanically outward with difficulty. The cabin layout is rotated 90° (toilet bowl mounted on the left side wall). Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is from the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 102 cm). The toilet bowl is equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar.
Parking and Transport
There are 5 designated parking spaces available in the parking area in front of the main entrance. Another 2 designated parking spaces are available in the underground garage (1st basement), accessible by elevator. Parking in the garage requires prior arrangement.
Unfortunately, the Jinonice metro station is not yet barrier-free. If you plan to use public transport, we recommend exiting at Nové Butovice metro station, where an inclined stair platform is available. From there, you can take bus no. 149 to the Jinonice stop. The route from the stop to the building follows a detour with a relatively steep slope.

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
This faculty building houses the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, the Center for Scientific Information, the Center for Media Studies, and the Language Preparation Center. The building has four floors.
Entrance
The main entrance from Smetanovo nábřeží is not accessible. From the double-leaf entrance doors (main leaf width 82 cm, side leaf width 90 cm) with a hard-to-reach doorbell (height 156 cm), a staircase (+6 steps) leads to the raised ground floor.
An adapted side entrance is available from Divadelní Street. The surface of the narrow access path is asphalt with uneven areas. A single-leaf door (width 88 cm) in the gate opens mechanically inward and has a threshold strip (height 2–3 cm). Doorbell signaling (height 135 cm) is located to the right of the door in the corner above a stone base and is difficult to access.
The entrance leads through a passageway into the inner courtyard and further into the building. Double-leaf doors (main leaf width 83 cm, side leaf width 47 cm) with a threshold (height 3 cm) lead into a stairwell corridor with an elevator at the –1 level (1st basement).
Interior
All floors of the building are connected by a passenger elevator. Classrooms and offices are always level-accessible from the main corridors connected to the elevator. On the 1st floor (raised ground floor) is a reception desk (counter height 97 cm), also connected to the alternative entrance and elevator.
Passages from stairwell corridors (from the elevator) into the wings are formed by double-leaf doors with a narrowed main leaf (door width 2×60 cm). The building management can open the side leaves upon request.
Classroom doors are mostly single-leaf (width min. 80 cm) with thresholds (height max. 3 cm). Classrooms no. 14, 112, 115, and 216 have double-leaf doors with a narrowed main leaf. Classrooms 115 and 216 also have limited space behind the entrance, where the aisle between the door and the row of fixed seats is significantly narrowed (width min. 52 cm).
Maneuvering space throughout the interior is otherwise sufficient.
The library has a separate entrance from the courtyard. A single-leaf door (width 95 cm) with doorbell signaling (height 126 cm) opens mechanically inward.
Elevator
The elevator has insufficient cabin depth (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 123 cm, depth 94 cm) and connects the 1st basement to the 3rd floor. The cabin is equipped with a handrail on the side wall and a mirror on the front wall. The folding seat is not within reach of the control panel. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 114 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 143 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are two adapted toilets in the building. A separate toilet (door width 80 cm; cabin width 153 cm, depth 134 cm) with insufficient depth is located on the 2nd floor. The single-leaf WC door is marked and opens mechanically outward. Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is from the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is limited (width 72 cm). The toilet bowl is equipped with two folding grab bars of insufficient length (67 cm). The cabin is locked with a Eurokey, which is available at the reception.
The second adapted toilet is located on the 3rd floor. It has the same parameters, but a folding changing table is mounted on the right side wall, reducing the functional cabin width (to 141 cm) and the space next to the toilet bowl (to 62 cm). The layout and other equipment are otherwise the same.
Parking and Transport
Two designated parking spaces are located at the rear entrance to the building on Divadelní Street.
Barrier-free access is available directly to the building via tram lines 17 and 18 at the Národní divadlo stop (only in the direction toward Staroměstská). The exit is onto an island with a lowered ramp. Alternatively, both directions of the barrier-free Národní divadlo stop on Národní třída (tram lines 6, 9, 18, and 22) can be used. Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
This extensive complex with interconnected wings A–H serves both educational and administrative functions for the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University. Some areas are also used by the Faculty of Humanities. The building includes student accommodation facilities.
Entrance
Pedestrian access to the building from the nearest tram stops Vozovna Vokovice and Nad Džbánem is complicated. Both routes from Evropská Street (where the stops are located) to José Martího Street have a slope (6–8%) and the asphalt surface is damaged in places. At both intersections with José Martího Street, pedestrian crossings lack lowered curbs. Lowered curbs are also missing at the break in the access path at the driveway crossing into the complex courtyard.
The main entrance to the building, located in wing H, is not accessible (+10 steps); double-leaf doors (main leaf width 87 cm, side leaf width 40 cm) open mechanically outward. Behind the entrance is another staircase (+4 steps) leading to the reception desk (counter height 106 and 75 cm) and further into the main corridor of the raised ground floor.
A locked side entrance is available approximately 30 m to the left of the main entrance. It is a driveway into the courtyard, with a crossing that lacks lowered curbs (curb height 7–10 cm). Single-leaf doors in the driveway gate (width 90 cm) open mechanically outward. Doorbell signaling (height 135 cm) is located to the right of the entrance on the gate.
In the passageway into the courtyard is the entrance to the eastern wing E. Behind the doors with a narrowed main leaf (width 2×64 cm), which open mechanically outward, is a steep single-flight ramp (slope 17%, width 129 cm, length 419 cm, single-sided handrail height 53 cm). The ramp has an insufficient lower landing (depth 70 cm) and leads to the raised ground floor of the wing.
In the courtyard beyond the passageway, two elevators are located opposite each other—one serving wing E, the other part of wing H. Level access between the elevators is only available in the courtyard (designated as the 1st basement level); in other floors, the connection is not level. The elevators provide the best access to buildings H and E, and subsequently from E to D, A, B, and C.
Three additional separate entrances lead into the southern wing D from the courtyard (main leaf width min. 80 cm). Two of these have ramps laid over staircases (+5 steps), but the ramps have unsuitable parameters (slope 17%, width 80 (!) cm, length 420 cm), lack handrails and edge protection. There is no direct connection between the door leaf and the ramps, and the lower landing is insufficient (depth 110 cm).
Separate rear entrances to wings A, B, and C, which extend further south from building D, are all inaccessible due to staircases.
Interior
The individual floors of the main wing H are connected by an elevator, from which main corridors lead to classrooms and offices. Wing F, with a congress hall on the western side of the complex, is connected to wing H at the 1st floor level only via stairs (–5 steps).
Wing E, adjoining from the east, is also connected to wing H at upper levels with level differences (+/–13 steps). However, the elevators in both wings are connected without level difference at the courtyard level (see Entrance), and further connection between buildings H and E is provided from the 2nd floor of building H by an inclined stair platform (capacity 200 kg; transport surface width 80 cm, depth 90 cm). The platform allows only side boarding, which is more difficult.
On the 1st floor of wing E is a canteen; on the 2nd floor are medical offices.
Other parts of the complex—wing D and the parallel wings A, B, and C—are level-connected to building E and its elevator. The passage between buildings E and D on the 1st floor is time-restricted due to canteen operations, and on the 4th floor it is blocked. Double-leaf doors separating wings and main corridors have a narrowed main leaf (width 2×73 cm).
Wing C, which houses teaching spaces for the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Humanities on the 1st and 2nd floors, has its own service elevator.
Elevator
The elevator in wing H (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 140 cm, depth 130 cm) connects the 1st basement to the 4th floor. The cabin is equipped with a handrail and a mirror (bottom edge height 92 cm) on the front wall. A folding seat is not available. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 118 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 125 cm. There is a slight level difference between the cabin floor and the adjacent corridor floor (height 2–3 cm).
The through-type elevator in wing E (automatically opening doors width 80 cm; cabin width 100 cm, depth 123 cm) connects the 2nd basement to the 4th floor. The cabin is equipped with a folding seat, handrail, and mirror (bottom edge height 92 cm) on the side wall. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 150 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 118 cm.
The self-service technical elevator in wing C (mechanically opening doors width 2×50 cm; cabin width 102 cm, depth 175 cm) connects the 2nd basement to the 3rd floor. The cabin is not equipped with a handrail, mirror, or folding seat. The control panel at boarding points is at a maximum height of 110 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 135 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are five adapted toilets in wing H and two more in wing B.
Three cabins located in the right part of wing H on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th floors have identical parameters. The cabins (door width 90 cm; cabin width 218 cm, depth 171 cm) are separate and accessible from the main corridor. Single-leaf WC doors are marked and open mechanically outward. The cabins have a rotated layout (toilet bowl mounted on the left side wall). Access to the bowl from the entrance is always from the left. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width 100 cm). Toilet bowls in the 3rd and 4th floor cabins are equipped with two folding grab bars. The toilet bowl in the 1st floor cabin has only one fixed grab bar on the wall; the cabin is locked with a Eurokey.
Cabin H003 on the 1st floor of wing H is part of the women’s WC (door width 90 cm; foyer width 130 cm, depth 170 cm). The cabin (door width 90 cm; cabin width 186 cm, depth 153 cm) has marked single-leaf doors that open mechanically outward. The toilet bowl is mounted on the front wall opposite the door, preventing side access; the sink is placed diagonally on the side wall. The toilet bowl is equipped with one fixed and one folding grab bar, but the folding bar cannot be lowered.
Cabin H158 on the 2nd floor of wing H is part of the men’s WC (door width 80 cm; foyer width 97 cm, depth 320 cm). The cabin (door width 80 cm; cabin width 191 cm, depth 143 cm) also has an unsuitable layout. The toilet bowl and sink are mounted opposite each other on the front wall and the wall next to the door, preventing front access. The toilet bowl is not equipped with grab bars.
Mirror-image cabins with showers in wing B, part of the men’s/women’s changing rooms, are also poorly designed. Single-leaf doors (width 80 cm) open inward. The square-shaped cabin with a beveled corner does not have sufficient dimensions (width 81–189 cm, depth 132–179 cm).
Parking and Transport
Two designated parking spaces are available on the parking area in front of the main entrance.
The nearest metro station is the barrier-free Nádraží Veleslavín on line A. From there (as well as from the city center), tram lines 20 and 26 go to the Vozovna Vokovice stop. The exit is onto islands with lowered access ramps. Access to the building via Do vozovny and José Martího streets is mostly along the roadway, as sidewalks lack lowered curbs. A similar situation applies when arriving from the Nad Džbánem stop, although the absence of paving on the roadway is an advantage. More information at www.dpp.cz.

Basic overview of accessibility
User Description of the Building
This faculty building, set into a slope, has two above-ground and two underground floors, with the southwestern part of the 1st underground floor remaining above ground level. The main entrance is at the level of the 1st floor. The building was created by converting the former 17. listopad student canteen. As of October 2020, exterior landscaping is still in progress.
Entrance
Barrier-free access to the building from nearby public transport stops is unresolved. From the Pelc Tyrolka bus stop, the route to the main entrance ascends along a quiet asphalt road, which is damaged in places and has a continuous longitudinal slope (6–8%). The route turns north from Pátkova Street and curves left between high-rise dormitory buildings. The area in front of the main entrance is level, with a surface made of large-format paving. Three sets of double-leaf entrance doors placed side by side open automatically to the sides. The passage width is sufficient. In the entrance hall behind the doors is a reception desk (counter height 120 cm).
An alternative entrance from the west side at the level of the 1st underground floor is not yet completed. From Povltavská Street, another quiet asphalt road with a longitudinal slope (5–7%) leads to it. In front of the entrance is a gravel area, from which a single-flight concrete ramp (slope 9%, width 170 cm, length 200 cm) without handrails rises to the door. Creating a solid surface in this area is part of the planned exterior finishing works. The double-leaf entrance doors open automatically to the sides. The passage width is sufficient. The entrance opens via a chip reader (height 106 cm); no doorbell signaling is available.
Currently, the most suitable access to the building is by individual car transport using the underground parking area served by an elevator.
Interior
A central shared atrium spans the 1st underground and both above-ground floors. Classrooms and other spaces are arranged around its perimeter.
All floors are connected by two elevators, accessible via straight corridors from both entrances. Maneuvering space inside is sufficient; doors to classrooms, offices, and other passages are at least 80 cm wide.
On the 1st underground floor is a library (service counter height 76 cm) with a study room, offices, and two lecture halls with flat floors. There is also access to the rear part of a tiered auditorium. No designated space for wheelchair users is available here, but the area behind the last row of seats can be used. Access to the lectern in the lower part of the auditorium is possible from the side at the level of the 2nd basement, but from the lectern to the first row of seats there are –3 steps.
The 1st and 2nd floors contain offices and classrooms for 20 or 40 students; tables and chairs in the rooms can be rearranged as needed.
Elevator
There are two elevators in the building, located opposite each other in the northern and southern wings. They have identical parameters (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 110 cm, depth 140 cm) and connect the 2nd basement to the 2nd floor. Maneuvering space in front of the elevators is sufficient. The through-type cabins have doors placed opposite each other. They are equipped with folding seats and a handrail (height 92 cm) on the side wall. Control panels at boarding points are at a maximum height of 114 cm; the maximum height of controls inside the cabin is 111 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are a total of six adapted toilets in the building, located on all floors (except the technical 2nd basement) next to the elevators. The cabins are always part of the sanitary facilities—men’s WC in the northern wing, women’s WC in the southern wing. The sections are mirror-designed, and the cabin dimensions are practically identical.
Partially accessible toilets (door width 77 cm; cabin width 155–160 cm, depth 185–190 cm) are part of spacious washroom foyers in each sanitary section. Single-leaf cabin doors are marked and open mechanically outward. A grab bar on the inside of the door (height 90 cm) reduces the clear entrance width to 77 cm. Access to the toilet bowl from the entrance is from the left in the women’s WC and from the right in the men’s WC. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet bowl is sufficient (width min. 90–94 cm). Toilet bowls are equipped with one folding and one fixed grab bar.
Parking
On the 2nd basement level is a parking area with six designated parking spaces. This floor is connected to the rest of the building via elevator.

Interior
1st Floor (Ground Level)
On a slightly lower level of the 1st floor is the UK Point and the student ID card distribution centre.
Access to the spacious hall is through double doors with a narrowed main leaf (width 2×75 cm). Behind the doors is a short staircase (–4 steps), which is bypassed on the left by a straight single-flight ramp (gradient 13.5%, width 128 cm, length 455 cm) with a handrail on one side (height 93 cm). There is sufficient maneuvering space above and below the ramp.
The service counter (height 108 cm) in the centre of the hall does not have a lowered section.
Behind the hall are the offices of the Information, Advisory and Social Centre, where students can attend consultations. The offices are equipped with standard desks, and the doors are at least 80 cm wide.
Through the administrative area and the adjacent room for issuing student ID cards, one can access a corridor with an accessible toilet. This corridor is adjacent to the UK Point hall on the right and is only accessible barrier-free from this direction. From the opposite side (central staircase and elevator), the corridor is accessed via –4 steps.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors are connected by a passenger elevator located in the main stairwell.
2nd Floor
In the 2nd floor corridor, some sections have a slope (gradient 5–9%, length up to 3 m).
Offices and classrooms have either single-leaf doors (width 80 cm) or double-leaf doors (width 2×65 cm).

The elevation on one side (+3 steps) is bypassed by a side single-flight ramp (gradient 14%, width 134 cm, length 340 cm) with handrails on both sides (height 92 cm). There is sufficient maneuvering space above and below the ramp.
On the other side (–3 steps), a short staircase is equipped with an inclined stair platform lift (load capacity 250 kg; platform size width 80 cm, depth 90 cm). Maneuvering areas at both the top and bottom landings are sufficient. A phone number for the reception is provided on the lift control panel to call for assistance.
The large lecture room C1 (door width 2×90 cm) on the 3rd floor is located directly next to the elevator. Other offices and classrooms have either single-leaf doors (width 80 cm) or double-leaf doors (width 2×60 cm). Some doors have higher thresholds (height 3–4 cm).
4th Floor
The 4th floor, which includes the library, study room, and an adapted toilet, is no longer connected to the lower floors by elevator, but only by an inclined stair platform lift (load capacity 250 kg; platform size width 80 cm, depth 90 cm), located on the staircase in the east wing.
Elevator
The elevator (automatic doors width 90 cm; cabin width 119 cm, depth 140 cm) connects the basement to the 3rd floor.
There is sufficient maneuvering space in front of the elevator.
The cabin is equipped with a fold-down seat, a handrail on the side wall (height 93 cm), and a mirror on the front wall.
Call buttons at entry points are at a maximum height of 102 cm; inside the cabin, the maximum button height is 108 cm.

User Description
The dormitory is divided into two blocks, K1 and K2, each with its own entrance and reception. Block K1 includes a dining hall (menza) and standard accommodation units, while Block K2 contains four barrier-free rooms.
Access
From the Kajetánka bus stop, an asphalt sidewalk with a barrier-free crossing and a longitudinal slope of up to 8% leads to Block K1. The sidewalk continues along the left side of the building toward Block K2, where the slope increases significantly to up to 15%.
Block K1 does not have barrier-free access. In front of the main entrance doors (width 2×83 cm; doorbell height 153 cm), there is a staircase (+10 steps). The rear entrance is also inaccessible (access path slope up to 14%; +3 steps). Both entrances lead to a shared hall with a reception desk (counter height 80 cm).
Access to Block K2 is provided via a single-run ramp (slope 11%, width 178 cm, length 546 cm) with handrails on both sides (height 91 cm). The concrete surface of the ramp is damaged, especially in the lower section. The maneuvering area at both the bottom and top landings is sufficient.
The ramp leads to the side entrance (door width 2×87 cm, chip reader height 96 cm), located to the left of the inaccessible main entrance (+4 steps, door width 2×87 cm). The doorbell (height 148 cm) is located in the vestibule behind the main entrance. Both entrances lead to a shared hall with a reception desk (counter height 96 cm).
Interior
Block K2: Two barrier-free units are located side by side on the second floor, at entrance level. Each unit consists of two rooms and a shared bathroom (i.e., 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms). A wide corridor leads to them from the entrance hall.
All doors and passages in the units are at least 80 cm wide, with thresholds (max. height 2 cm). Each room has its own hallway (maneuvering area ø 120 cm) with a kitchenette (counter height 76 cm, clearance 60 cm).
Rooms (maneuvering area ø min. 130 cm) are equipped with a single bed (height 40 cm), desk (height 75 cm, clearance 74 cm), and wardrobe. Furniture arrangement can be adjusted as needed.
The bathroom (door width 90 cm; room dimensions: width 239 cm, depth 223 cm) with toilet and adapted shower is accessible from the hallways (the bathroom has two doors opposite each other). The single-wing bathroom door opens mechanically into the hallway.
The toilet is located on the side wall of the bathroom. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 152 cm). The toilet is equipped with two foldable grab bars. The shower area has no raised edge and is equipped with a grab bar and shower seat.
Room No. 1 is equipped with a private washing machine.
Each floor in Block K2 includes common rooms (door width 80 cm, threshold height 2 cm).
The entrance level with barrier-free units is connected to other floors by an elevator (see Elevator).
Block K1: This block does not contain any barrier-free rooms. It includes an accommodation office on the raised ground floor, a dining hall (menza) on the second floor, and a laundry room in the basement. None of the floors are barrier-free.
All floors except street level are connected by an elevator (see Elevator). On the second floor, access to the dining hall involves a -1 step and double-winged doors with a narrowed main wing (width 2×76 cm).
In front of the dining hall, there is a sanitary facility with an adapted toilet cubicle (see Sanitary Facilities).
Elevator
Block K1: The elevator (automatically opening doors width 80 cm; cabin width 112 cm, depth 210 cm) connects the basement, raised ground floor, and all upper floors. The maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a mirror (bottom edge height 108 cm) on the front wall, grab bars (height 92 cm) around the perimeter, and a foldable seat within reach of the controls. Controls at boarding points are at a maximum height of 129 cm; inside the cabin, the maximum height of controls is 120 cm.
Block K2: The elevator (mechanically operated doors width 80 cm; cabin width 106 cm, depth 195 cm) connects the first to fifth floors. The maneuvering space in front of the elevator is limited due to the outward-opening cabin doors. The cabin is equipped with a mirror (bottom edge height 98 cm) and a grab bar (height 91 cm) on the front wall. There is no seat in the cabin. Controls at boarding points are at a maximum height of 135 cm; inside the cabin, the maximum height of controls is 120 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
The complex includes one barrier-free public toilet cubicle, located near the dining hall on the second floor of Block K1, which is not barrier-free accessible.
The cubicle (door width 90 cm; room dimensions: width 175 cm, depth 173 cm) is standalone. The single-wing door is marked and opens mechanically outward.
The toilet is accessible from the left when entering. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 80 cm). The toilet is equipped with one foldable and one fixed grab bar.
Additional adapted bathrooms and toilets are part of the accommodation units (see Interior).
Parking
There are two designated parking spaces in front of Block K2.

User Description
The extensive accommodation complex in Hostivař consists of a central building with a reception and ten interconnected blocks. Two barrier-free rooms are located in Block No. 10.
Access
Access from public transport stops to the accommodation complex is complicated. The access paths are damaged, and some sections have a slope (up to 10%). The route along Weilova Street leads directly on the road.
In front of the main entrance to the central building, there is a staircase (+3, +4, +3 steps), which can be bypassed on the left. The double-winged entrance doors open automatically to the sides. The passage width is sufficient. From the spacious entrance hall, where the central reception and accommodation office are located (counter height 116 cm), a staircase leads to the rooms.
An alternative entrance directly to Block No. 10, which includes a unit with barrier-free rooms on the raised ground floor, is accessible from the southern internal road (along Kobylákova Street). The surface of the road and the area in front of Block No. 10 consists of damaged concrete panels.
Barrier-free access to the rooms is provided via a through elevator, which opens at street level (ground floor) next to a ramp (slope 9.5%, width 160 cm, length 245 cm) leading to the entrance doors (main wing width 82 cm, side wing width 45 cm; doorbell height 150 cm, chip reader height 133 cm).
Interior
The elevator connects the street level with the corridor of the raised ground floor, which leads to the accommodation unit. The unit consists of a shared hallway with a bathroom and kitchenette, with rooms for guests with mobility impairments on both sides, and assistant rooms located behind them.
All doors and passages in the unit are at least 80 cm wide, except for the bathroom doors (width 60 cm) in the assistant rooms, which are not barrier-free.
The shared hallway and both adjacent rooms are spacious (maneuvering area ø min. 150 cm). The hallway is equipped with a kitchen counter (height 76 cm, clearance 64 cm).
On the right and left, doors lead from the hallway to the rooms (width 380 cm, depth 290 cm), each with a single bed (height 48 cm). These rooms are connected to the assistant rooms.
From the hallway, a door leads straight into the shared bathroom (door width 90 cm; room dimensions: width 345 cm, depth 150–243 cm) with a toilet and adapted shower. The single-wing bathroom door opens mechanically into the hallway.
The toilet is placed diagonally in the rear left corner of the bathroom, accessible from the left when entering. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 96 cm). The toilet is equipped with one fixed grab bar mounted horizontally on the side wall and one foldable grab bar mounted on the rear wall, which in its horizontal position extends across the toilet bowl (i.e., the bars are not aligned longitudinally with the toilet).
The spacious shower area without a raised edge (width 150 cm, depth 145 cm) is equipped with a horizontal grab bar and a shower control on the side wall. A fixed shower seat is not provided.
On the first underground floor, accessible by elevator, there is a laundry room (door width 80 cm). No other shared spaces are available.
Elevator
The through elevator (automatically opening doors width 90 cm; cabin width 110 cm, depth 213 cm) connects the first underground to the eighth above-ground floor. The maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin has doors on opposite sides.

User Description
Jednota Dormitory is located in the city center near Prague Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží Praha). The building offers one barrier-free unit consisting of two rooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen.
Access
Access paths are mostly asphalted with only minor surface damage. Nearby pedestrian crossings have lowered curbs.
In front of the main entrance, there is one step (height 14 cm, depth 40 cm), which is overcome by a straight metal grate ramp (slope 12.5%, width 140 cm, length 106 cm) without handrails.
Double-winged doors (width 2×110 cm) open mechanically inward. To the right of the doors, above the ramp, there is a doorbell (height 144 cm) and a chip reader (height 125 cm).
From the entrance vestibule (width 266 cm, depth 177 cm), identical double-winged doors lead into the entrance hall with a reception desk (counter height 125 cm).
Interior
From the entrance hall, double-winged doors (2×70 cm) lead to the corridor with the elevator. The elevator, which has insufficient cabin depth, connects all floors including the mezzanine.
The barrier-free unit No. 120/121 is located on the second floor. All doors and passages within the unit are at least 80 cm wide.
From the hallway (maneuvering area ø min. 130 cm) with a wardrobe, an open passage leads to the kitchenette (counter height 76 cm, clearance 64 cm) and a spacious bathroom.
Straight ahead and to the right are entrances to the rooms (maneuvering area ø min. 130 cm), each equipped with a single bed (height 40 cm), desk (height 75 cm, clearance 73 cm), and wardrobe. Furniture arrangement can be adjusted as needed.
The bathroom (door width 80 cm; room dimensions: width 270 cm, depth 248 cm) with toilet and adapted shower is accessible from the hallway. The single-wing bathroom door opens mechanically into the hallway.
The toilet is located on the side wall of the bathroom. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 170 cm). The toilet is equipped with two foldable grab bars.
The shower area has no raised edge and is equipped with a shower seat.
The shared student laundry room and kitchen on the floor are not barrier-free (+1 step, height 12 cm).
Other shared spaces include a study room on the second floor (door width 86 cm, threshold height 3 cm) and a TV room on the third floor (door width 90 cm, threshold height 2 cm).
Elevator
The elevator (mechanically operated door width 75 cm; cabin width 123 cm, depth 98 cm) does not meet sufficient cabin size requirements. It connects the first to the fourth floors including the mezzanine.
The maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a grab bar (height 94 cm) and a mirror (bottom edge height 148 cm) on the front wall.
There is no foldable seat in the cabin. Controls at boarding points are at a maximum height of 137 cm; inside the cabin, the maximum height of controls is 120 cm.
Sanitary Facilities

User Description
The Hvězda Dormitory consists of three residential blocks. Each block has its own separate entrance. One barrier-free room is available in Block No. 3.
Access
From the bus stop Nad Markétou, a sidewalk along Zvoníčkova Street leads to the main entrance of Block No. 3. The asphalt surface is damaged and interrupted by a driveway without lowered curbs. The route can be taken via the adjacent, low-traffic road, either to the main entrance or to the side entrance.
In front of the main entrance, there is a staircase (+8 steps). Double-winged doors (width 2×90 cm) with a doorbell (height 154 cm) and chip reader (height 134 cm) lead into a spacious entrance hall with a reception desk.
An alternative entrance on the eastern side of the block is at the level of the lowered ground floor. An asphalt sidewalk leads to it from Zvoníčkova Street, sloping over a 10 m stretch (gradient 8–10.5%). The area in front of the entrance is level. A single-wing door (width 82 cm) with a doorbell (height 147 cm) and chip reader (height 132 cm) opens mechanically outward and leads into a stairwell corridor with a passenger elevator.
Interior
The barrier-free room H3D109 is located on the second floor of the northern wing of Block No. 3. From the side entrance, the passenger elevator goes to the second floor of the southeastern wing. A connecting corridor between the southeastern and northern wings contains a staircase (+9 steps) with a self-operated inclined stair platform (capacity 250 kg; platform dimensions: width 82 cm, depth 106 cm; control elements max. height 110 cm). The maneuvering area at the lower landing is limited (width min. 150 cm, depth 110 cm), while the upper landing is sufficiently spacious.
A wide main corridor leads to the room, ending in a relaxation zone.
The room door (width 90 cm) opens into a hallway (maneuvering area ø 150 cm), which is equipped with a kitchen counter (height 87 cm, clearance 70 cm) on the left side. On the right side, there is a shoe rack with coat hooks, a bathroom entrance, and a refrigerator. Straight ahead are doors (width 90 cm) opening into the room (width 500 cm, depth 260 cm).
The room is furnished with a single bed (height 48 cm), a desk (height 83 cm, clearance 80 cm), a wardrobe, and a coffee table.
The bathroom (door width 90 cm; room dimensions: width 240 cm, depth 226 cm) with toilet and adapted shower is accessed from the hallway. The single-wing bathroom door opens mechanically into the hallway. The toilet is located in the rear right corner of the bathroom, accessible from the left when entering. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 80 cm). The toilet is equipped with one fixed and one foldable grab bar. The shower area has no raised edge and is equipped with grab bars and a shower seat.
The student laundry room, accessible via a short staircase (+3 steps) from the reception area, is not barrier-free.
Elevator
The elevator (automatically opening door width 90 cm; cabin width 123 cm, depth 203 cm) connects the lowered ground floor to the fifth floor. The maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The cabin is equipped with a grab bar (height 92 cm) on the front wall and a foldable seat within reach of the controls. There is no mirror in the cabin. Controls at boarding points are at a maximum height of 97 cm; inside the cabin, the maximum height of controls is 109 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are no barrier-free sanitary facilities in the shared areas of the complex. An adapted bathroom and toilet are only part of the room (see Interior).
Parking
Designated parking spaces are available in front of each entrance to the individual blocks. The closest designated parking space to the adapted side entrance is located in front of Block No. 2.
There is also a food distribution point on-site, but no dining hall.

User Description
The dormitory of the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University is part of the Hostivař accommodation complex. Two barrier-free rooms are located in Building No. 3.
Access
Access from public transport stops to the accommodation complex is complicated. The access paths are damaged, and some sections have a slope (up to 10%). The route along Weilova Street leads directly on the road.
In front of the main entrance, there is a staircase (+3, +4, +3 steps), which can be bypassed on the left. The double-winged main entrance doors open automatically to the sides. The passage width is sufficient. From the spacious entrance hall, where the central reception and accommodation office are located (counter height 116 cm), a staircase leads to the rooms.
An alternative entrance directly to Building No. 3, which houses the two barrier-free rooms on the raised ground floor, is accessible from the southern internal road (along Kobylákova Street). The surface of the road and the area in front of the entrance to Block No. 3 consists of damaged concrete panels.
In front of the entrance, there is a staircase (+15 steps), which is overcome with limitations by a vertical lifting platform (capacity 250 kg; platform dimensions: width 89 cm, depth 136 cm; control elements max. height 110 cm). The platform does not reach the lower boarding area; the height difference is bridged by a metal ramp (slope 20%, width 95 cm, length 72 cm). The maneuvering area on the upper landing is limited (width min. 114 cm, depth 250 cm), and the entrance door (width 80 cm) opens mechanically outward onto the landing. From the entrance door, a wide corridor leads directly to the barrier-free rooms No. 300 (single room) and No. 301 (double room).
Interior
A wide main corridor leads from the side entrance to the rooms and shared kitchenette.
The door to Room No. 300 (width 90 cm) opens into the corridor. The room (maneuvering area ø 150 cm) is equipped with a single bed (height 44 cm), wardrobe, desk (height 75 cm, clearance 70 cm), and refrigerator.
The room includes a bathroom (door width 90 cm; room dimensions: width 186 cm, depth 150 cm) with a toilet and adapted shower. The single-winged bathroom door opens mechanically into the room. The toilet is located in the rear right corner of the bathroom, accessible from the left when entering. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 124 cm). The toilet is equipped with one fixed and one foldable grab bar. The shower area has no raised edge and is not equipped with a grab bar or shower seat.
There is no kitchenette in the room; a shared kitchenette at the end of the corridor can be used (door width 80 cm, maneuvering area ø min. 150 cm, kitchen counter height 94 cm, no clearance underneath).
The door to Room (Apartment) No. 301 (width 90 cm) opens into the corridor. The hallway is significantly narrowed (width 90 cm) by wardrobes, which can be removed upon request. The hallway is structurally connected to a spacious kitchen (maneuvering area ø min. 150 cm, kitchen counter height 93 cm, no clearance underneath). Sliding doors (width 80 cm) lead from the kitchen to the bedroom (maneuvering area ø min. 150 cm), which is equipped only with two single beds (height 40 cm).
The apartment includes a bathroom (door width 90 cm; room dimensions: width 188 cm, depth 152 cm) with a toilet and adapted shower. The single-winged bathroom door opens mechanically into the hallway, and the maneuvering space in front of it is significantly reduced by the wardrobes.
The toilet is located in the rear left corner of the bathroom, accessible from the right when entering. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is limited by a partition wall of the shower area. The toilet is equipped with one fixed and one foldable grab bar. The shower area has no raised edge and is not equipped with a grab bar or shower seat.
On the second floor, accessible by a small elevator, there is a laundry room (door width 70 cm). No other shared spaces are available.
Elevator
The elevator (mechanically operated door width 70 cm; cabin width 82 cm, depth 154 cm) does not meet sufficient width requirements. It is located at the end of the corridor next to the staircase. The maneuvering space in front of the elevator is sufficient. The elevator is equipped with a grab bar (height 112 cm) on the front wall. There is no mirror or seat in the cabin. Controls at boarding points are at a maximum height of 132 cm; inside the cabin, the maximum height of controls is 127 cm.
Sanitary Facilities
There are no barrier-free sanitary facilities in the shared areas of the complex. Adapted bathrooms and toilets are only part of the rooms (see Interior).
Parking
There is no designated parking space in front of the central building with reception or near Block No. 3. Upon agreement, an unmarked parking area in front of Block No. 3 can be used, accessible via the southern internal road connecting Weilova and Plukovníka Mráze Streets.
