Assistance during studies

Purpose of the Service

Study assistance aims to support students in managing the demands of university studies with respect to their special needs. This service does not include personal care or personal assistance.

Who it is the service for?

Study assistance is available to students with special needs for whom the service has been recommended during a diagnostic interview.

What kind of support can you use within this service?

Within the service, students may receive support in the form of:

  • provision of lecture notes,

  • accompaniment (within Charles University premises, between CU buildings, and at one-off university events – possible exceptions must be agreed upon with the service coordinator),

  • assistance with working with documents,

  • or other forms of assistance related to teaching and studying.

The exact scope of the service depends on the student’s special needs.

If you need help with study organization, learning strategies, stress management, or study planning, please see Study Strategy Training.

How far in advance to apply?

The process of arranging assistance depends on the individual needs of each student.

If assistants are already arranged in advance (for example classmates, or in specific cases family members etc.), the application can be processed within a few days.

If assistants are not arranged in advance, the process of finding suitable assistants, arranging meetings, and agreeing on the rules takes approximately one month.
