Overview of accessibility

Description of the building

The faculty is located in the Marathon building in the New Town. The building has three underground floors and six above-ground floors.

Entrance

The surface of the access pavement is made of mosaic tiles.

The double door on the main entrance (main panel width 75 cm, side panel width 78 cm) opens mechanically outwards. The doorbell (height 149 cm) is located on the left side of the door. The entrance to the faculty premises leads from the spacious vestibule to the left. On the right side, there is access to sanitary facilities and a café (closed at the time the map was made July 2019).

Interior

The reception area (desk height 97 cm), building administration, and the student club are located on the 1st above-ground floor (entrance).

All above-ground floors and the first underground floor of the building are connected by a lift. The classrooms on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th above-ground floors, the dean’s offices, the student affairs office on the 3rd above-ground floor, and the department offices on the 6th above-ground floor are always accessible from the central corridors with a lift.

The manoeuvring space in the interior is sufficient. The doors to the classrooms, offices, and other passages have a width of at least 80 cm.

On the 1st underground floor, there is an alternative access entrance for people with limited mobility to the library. The entrance (door width 81 cm) is located at the lift. Main access to the library is by a staircase from the ground floor.

The 2nd underground floor serves as an archive for rare prints, which is not accessible to the general public.

There is a chapel on the 3rd underground floor that may be accessed by a narrow turning staircase.

Lift

A lift (automatically opening door width 80 cm, cabin width 135 cm, depth 126 cm) connects the 2nd underground floor to the 6th above-ground floor of the building. The cabin is equipped with a handle and a mirror on the front wall. There is no pull-down seat in the lift. The controls at the entrances have a maximum height of 111 cm. The maximum height of the controls inside the cabin is 115 cm.

Sanitary facilities

There are two modified toilets in the building. A separate accessible toilet (door width 90 cm, stall width 165 cm, depth 196 cm) is located on the 4th above-ground floor by the lift. The single-panel door to the toilet stall is marked and opens mechanically outwards. The stall has a 90° rotated layout (the toilet is anchored on the right side wall). Access to the toilet when looking from the entrance into the stall is on the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 112 cm). The toilet is equipped with one pull-down handle and one fixed handle.

The second modified toilet is located on the 1st above-ground floor next to the café. The partially accessible toilet (door width 90 cm, stall width 178 cm, depth 123-142 cm) is a part of the women’s toilet facility. The entrance door to the toilets is single-panel (width 80 cm) and opens mechanically outwards. The unmarked single door to the toilet stall opens mechanically outwards. Access to the toilet when looking from the entrance into the stall is on the right. The space for a wheelchair next to the toilet is sufficient (width 107cm). The toilet is equipped with two pull-down handles.

Parking

There are two reserved parking spaces near the building with no ramp on the opposite side of the street. The surface paving is made of coarse tiles.

Public transportation

The nearest public transportation stops are the tram stops Myslíkova, Lazarská, and Novoměstská radnice. The barrier-free vestibule of the Národní třída B metro station on the corner of nearby Lazarská street and Magdalena Rettigová is also very useful.
